Alito Betrayal
By Bob Fertik
Created 2006-01-30 17:18

We, the voters who elect Democrats in every election, were utterly and completely betrayed today by 14-17 Democratic Senators we elected.

There was no reason for this betrayal. We only needed 40 of the 45 Democrats to sustain a filibuster.

Every Democratic Senator knew what was at stake - both in the rulings Judge Alito will make for the rest of his life, and in the anger - even rage - that will greet their decision to betray us.

It felt so good to FIGHT, feels so bad to be SO let down.

I know there will be other battles and I will be there.

But what frustrates me most is that no one hears our screams-

Makes me believe that they do not really even care to listen to us.

I guess things will have to get worse before they get better,

I only wish the time could have been now.

Thanks for all the great posting, encouragement and advice.

I guess its time to take some deep breaths and some time off.

I am off to Tikal.

Kpete
