What in the Effing Hell is Bush* Smoking????
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/world/AP-Bush.html?hp&ex=1163826000&en=14c61eec161a59f5&ei=5094&partner=homepage
The president said there was much to be learned from the divisive Vietnam War -- the longest conflict in U.S. history -- as his administration contemplates new strategies for the increasingly difficult war in Iraq, now in its fourth year. But his critics see parallels with Vietnam -- a determined insurgency and a death toll that has drained public support -- that spell danger for dragging out U.S. involvement in Iraq.

''It's just going to take a long period of time for the ideology that is hopeful -- and that is an ideology of freedom -- to overcome an ideology of hate,'' Bush said after having lunch at his lakeside hotel with Australian Prime Minister John Howard, whose country has been one of America's strongest allies in Iraq, Vietnam and other conflicts.

''We'll succeed,'' Bush added, ''unless we quit.''

I mean, I mean, this guy, is over in Viet Nam, making the above statements, so utterly disconnected from reality...I mean, we were ostensibly in Viet Nam to keep North Vietnam from taking over South Vietnam to keep them from communist control....and this IDIOT, this FOOL, praises the victors in that war and suggests that they have a 'hopeful ideology', I mean, why were we fighting them if they had a 'hopeful ideology', and then says we have 'lessons to learn'....that if we don't quit in Iraq we will be victorious....over WHAT, for chrissake.

Aren't the republicans in congress outraged and embarrassed at his idiocy and disconnect from reality? Is there anyone left who thinks this guy should be in the White House? What if the Effing Hell is this guy doing running around the globe declaring his stupidity to the world?

1. according to woodward's book
State of Denial - the bushies do not dwell in reality, they feel reality is where the losers live. The bushies live in ideologyland and that's a much better place to live..

2. Okay. I can buy that. But
Even in fantasy land, isn't there some sort of consistency or pattern of delusion that makes it appear somewhat rational or believable? I mean, if you read what he said, its not just fantasyland, we're talkin' REAL BAD ACID TRIP stuff here, just incoherent babbling.

Ah-Haa! there is a slight flaw to your argument
you are trying to apply LOGIC to fantasy. There is no logic or pattern or consistency to fantasy - fantasy can be whatever you want, whenever you want

logic says you can't fly an airplane to the SUN. Fantasy says you can if you go at night... ;)

13. Yes, but
If you were going to fantasize about flying to the sun, the fantasy would include flying toward the sun.

This guy's fantasy, to try to follow this 'reasoning', is like, okay,
"i'm gonna fly to the sun, so I'm going to start drilling a hole in the earth to get there."

Okay okay, i've lost it totally....trying to follow smirk's reasoning.

Off to the shower with me

5. I couldn't understand what the hell he was talking about, either.
He seems to be saying that the "lesson" to be "learned" from the Vietnam War is that we quit too early and so the Vietnamese won. If we had "stayed the course" in Vietnam, things would have been better. But he is speaking into the faces of his Vietnamese hosts, as though they can't understand what he is saying.
So a strong, independent, peaceful and prospering (relatively) Vietnam is not the model we want for Iraq? I don't have a clue as to what the Simpleton in Chief is saying...

I would want this idiot impeached, because he is just too embarrassing for the party. I mean, this guy is not just some dimwitted former cheerleader lightweight, he is an effing gargantuan, flaming, stupid, enfeebled, brainless fuckwit of galactic proportions?

How are they gonna live him down?

Because Bush** quit and went AWOL.

So let's test his theory. Send Dimson to Iraq.

He probably just has no freaking idea that he's surrounded by commies, or that we left Vietnam because we were LOSING. And it seems to me that even his own people are leaving him dangling helplessly in front of the cameras. Weird.

34. He's the dictionary definition of Ignoramus
Everything he 'knows' about the world he reads out loud when he gets to the podium, and it passes through his peanut brain like watery diarrhea. The pathetic little cretin hasn't the slightest clue where he is when he steps off the plane, he just makes it up as he goes and doesn't give a fuck what he says or does. A patch of weeds would make a better president.

Had he been in the position of power, we'd still be fighting in the jungles there with an American death toll of a couple of million and until there were no Vietnamese left alive!

20. I read his comment differently
He is saying, look what happened after we left before the job was done, the communists are in control, in an underhanded way. At the same time he wants to proceed with economic policy changes.

The problem I have with his statement is that it clearly shows the neocon inability to understand insurgencies and the reason behind them, and the limits of what military force can achieve.

24. Bush had two messages
Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 10:25 AM by Jim4Wes
The hopeful ideology message is in relation to economic reforms moving forward. Vietnam wishes to be the next China.

But that message is different than the stay the course one. Its very subtle but he is criticizing America for leaving Vietnam 30 years ago.

26. But, if we hadn't left, the war would still be going on
We never would have 'won'....so how is 'staying and not giving up' better than having left to allow them to have their own country, and for us now to be able to have trade with them?

There is no 'there there'....he's delusional

29. The US spent thirty years in VN--nearly two generations--
and killed millions of people-still killing them, as many of them and us are dying early deaths due to illegal weapons.

No Bush has had the wonderful experience of a bullet slamming into his frail, delicate body. I have and it makes me nervous and angry when those nasty things start going ffiizzz past and you can't even hear the "pop" that started them on their journey.

Even poppy bush never got shot and that chicken shit abandoned his plane with one of his crew still on board, locked in place, to die a horrible slow death by drowning.

Those awful people do not deserve to be America's representatives and I sincerely hope that VN takes exception to his stupidity and lack of grace and kicks him out, refusing to do business.

But, sigh, they will not, wanting the chance to fuck us over and take the last dime we have. That's o k, I guess, there won't be any sales here before long as we continue to pauperize ourselves--we won't have any jobs and no money to buy their shit and will be starving to death while the world looks on and celebrates.

Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 12:22 PM by windbreeze
in him visiting Vietnam right now...????Because I do...he's telling us to kiss his ass....he avoided Vietnam, while many of our generation died there....I take his visit to that country as a personal slap in the face...he can compare the "conflict" in Vietnam to the "war" in Iraq, all he wants, but he will never face the one way in which they really compare...that they both were/are totally unnecessary fights of choice brought to us by rich men wanting more riches.....

I'd say he, of all people, has NO right to even set foot on the soil that accepted the spilled blood of so many honorable American men/women ...especially when you consider that there are those who died after returning home and those are still dying to this day, due to serving in that country...those who's names will never be on any Vietnam memorial wall...then think of all of those still alive veterans we see, who's eyes have that haunted look, as they stand on their particular street corner all over this country asking for help...the ones the VA and our gov't failed, the same VA that he has more or less gutted....I don't care if he is the figurehead for this country...His visit to Vietnam is an insult to any of us who had loved ones fight for their lives there, in that rich man's "conflict"...The NERVE...the VERY GOD DAMNED NERVE...HOW DARE HE??....
