Is a vote for cloture on the filibuster
the same as a vote for placing Alito on the supreme court?

If not, we need to continue hammering all of the senators. Scare us some Republicans.

2. NO it's NOT! There well may be many who were afraid of the
filibuster but will be voting NO on Alito.

3. No, but
they only need 51 votes to confirm him tomorrow.

60 for cloture, simple majority for confirmation.

4. No
Many Democratic Senators that voted for cloture will be voting against Alito tomorrow. And one Repub (and possible two) will end up voting against him too. Final vote will probably be around 58-42. Nowhere near the 72-25 cloture vote.

5. No, but there's no point. Of 55 Republicans, only 51 need to vote AYE
The confirmation is a fait accompli.

7. They don't even need 51
With Cheney breaking ties, 50 will do ... and a bunch of "Democrats" have already said that they'll vote Aye.

It's over.

8. Even worse: only 50 need to vote Aye
Tie-breaker is Cheney.

6. Yes, there are enough Rethugs to place that neofascist on the
Supreme Court. A no vote on cloture was the only way to stop it. So, in other words, the vote to place him on the Supreme Court took place today.
