Help Grannie understand
WHY?

What possible benefit did those "Democrats" receive by voting for cloture? Did they not realize that achieving this filibuster would have been the equivalent of using a defibrilator on an almost dead party? WHY?

I know there are reasons, but I really don't understand.

6. Overpaid, greedy, conniving, lazy STRATEGISTS
The only time our Senators come in contact with "we the people" is passing their gardeners on the way to the limos.

They pay their strategists and advisers tons of cash to tell them what to do. The strategists are TOO LAZY to do anything but 'cipher how to get the last 10 voters on the planet to swing their way.

Disgusting.

Otherwise known as REAL Democrats.

Meantime, the far right reactionary fascist right is getting EVERYTHING IT WANTS...

Great job you guys are doing! :sarcasm:

It's one thing to achieve a high position, it's another to DO SOMETHING WITH IT.

12. Fuck 'em. Throw them out.
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 06:12 PM by Bouncy Ball
The Dems in those states should find TRUE progressive Democrats who remember what they're supposed to be fighting for and get them to run and put THEM in office. I THINK this might still be a representative democracy, so we can do that. I don't have a Dem senator at all, so I think every repuke and about 19 or 20 Dem Senators need to be thrown out on their asses, pronto.

13. With much generosity
A partisan vote on Alito opens the party up to a partisan broad brush when we fight wiretapping and lobby reform. I don't think that's true, but that's what they're supposedly thinking.

16. They are chasing votes from the middle
I'm a newbie whose been watching this site for months. I could never vote for an independent or a repub . . . and they know it. They know they have my vote locked up. I vote, and I vote the progressive ticket every time. So, they think they can now expand their voter base and go after the so-called "moderate" voter who doesn't want to see a messy confirmation fight. That is our problem. We vote progressive 100% so our democratic senators don't have to do anytning more for us . . . they are free to go out and look for new voters from the "middle". Alas, there is nothing we can do. I have no other option. I can't stay home and let the repubs win. I have to vote democratic even when they break my heart.
