Rove May Leave Within Weeks. (US NEWS)
Rove May Leave Within Weeks.

The rumors that chief White House political architect Karl Rove will leave sometime next year are being bolstered with new insider reports that his partisan style is a hurdle to President Bush's new push for bipartisanship. A key Bush advisor tells the US News Political Bulletin, "Karl represents the old style and he's got to go if the Democrats are going to believe Bush's talk of getting along." The advisor said a departure might come in "weeks, not months." A Rove ally, however, noted that he has a record of out-witting his critics.

57. I think that
there are some divisions within the administration. The most obvious one is that which Ambassador Wilson pointed out: the divide between the Office of the President, and the Office of the Vice President. Rove will continue to be an advocate for the first, and a potential problem for the OVP.

I think that the people who have stepped in to try to salvage this presidency for the remainder of the term have determined that Karl's value within the administration has decreased. Thus, they are benching him.

65. Perhaps He'll Try To Get Back In Their Good Graces
by testifying, in the most damaging way possible against the vile veep. You know how it goes then, if he was responsible for Plame, then as day is night he was responsible for everything that happened in the WH. Now will we find out if there was a dealwith Rove? Because regardless of whatever play Rove chooses next, Poppy's people may do a really clean sweep and bring them all down. And while we're at it, let's say a fond farewell to I Liar Libby, because whatever deal he may make, there'll still be jail time involved.

85. Perhaps Karl
has already told Mr. Fitzgerald what he knows about VP Cheney. Perhaps he may resign before Libby's trial is scheduled to begin. It makes little difference if Scooter is going to make a deal with Mr. Fitzgerald or not, as far as Karl goes.

170. Yeah. Undoubtedly. 'Cause they're gonna need at least one fall guy.
Somebody's going to have to take at least some of the rap - too much strong and insistant - and unavoidable - public opinion will insist on it. I think rummy's another one thrown to the wolves along with scooter. They're going to be throwing more ballast overboard to save the sinking ship, and it wouldn't surprise me if kkkarl goes. Besides, now, he's got "loser stench" on him. He did not captain this last election up to expectations, after all. Then again, because he blew it, maybe he's gonna get a medal...

"(Rove's) partisan style is a hurdle to President Bush's new push for bipartisanship?" That explains why Bush re-nominated all those judges and is trying to ram through his warrantless domestic wiretapping law. Does it have something to do with the threat to subpoena the torture memo the Georgie signed, or the latest report on electronic voting machines? Or has Fitz has begun breathing down Karl's neck again?

His "work" is done. he parlayed a drunken, frat boy ne'er-do-well into governor of Texas, and two terms as president.

He will be bought off in grand style, and will return as a "guest-lecturer" back in texas..

Karl will do just fine....unless (cue Dah-dah-Dahhh scary music) he ened up indicted after all the testifying he'll soon be doing.. I think congress may have a few questions for him :)

the moral capacity to tell the truth twice consecutively, hence a "tell-all" book could only be filled with lies.

He would not leave because of conflict with the president. It is because his ability to benefit the administration is spent.

25. Whether it's true or not, it shows that the next two years will be a campaign
for the middle voters, contrary to what the Repub apologists are saying about this being a conservative victory. BushCo has gone into offensive mode, trying now to push the party's image to the left to win in 2008. They won't move left, they'll just make lots of symbolic gestures to make them look more centrist, less extreme. They will try to build the image of a "kinder, gentler Republican Party," as Bush tried to do in 88, after the extremism of Reagan.

The approach so far has been two pronged. Make it look like sweeping changes in the White House are forcing Bush to the middle (they don't care about his personal reputation now, only the 2008 candidate), and make the Dems seem too extreme and weak to handle things. Thus, the harping on the least little Dem infighting (this prong is aided by Dems who also harp on these minor squabbles) and the attempt to paint Pelosi as an extreme leftie.

It will be a bloody two years, with the Repubs pretending they are the nice ones, and the Dems having to fight off these under-the-table attacks without looking like whiners. But hey, politics is never pretty.

28. I'll believe it when I see it! I also don't buy the "let's work together" BS
from Shrub! He had 6 years to order his pattsies in Congress to do that, but he didn't!

I thought it was very telling when in the AM, Shrub is pushing the let's get along and work together, and in the afternoon, he tells Congress he wants hisjudicial nominees confirmed and some of his other controversial legislation passed BEFORE the lame ducks go home!

The whole thing is political BS!

If you remember, she was always a phone call, e-mail or fax machine away. It's not like she really left.

Bush can't do anything without Karl Rove there to tell him how to do it. Bush has no experience and no gravitas.

90. I think Rove's failure to cheat enough to keep control of Congress, and
his false assurances to Shrub about the subject might have something to do with why we are hearing resignation rumors now.

I think Shrub really believed Rove's "the math" blather and was truly surprised at the election results. If Rove can't manipulate stuff enough to win, then what use is he to Shrub?

There's this:
"When he says his math -- "THE math" -- shows his candidates winning, he means it. He's reading the polls the way they make sense to him, based on how past polling has matched up against the assault of his 72-hour juggernaut."

And this:
“Some say Rove has 'an October surprise' coming that will change everything (even if it doesn't come until November).”

Okey-dokey. Juggernaut my ass.

He was just the victim of bad advisers. He was a great president who was simply misled by those he trusted. Who among us, brothers and sisters, have not been betrayed by those we counted on most? It's the stuff of opera, and legend, and legendary opera.

I don't want to see any of these guys leave unless they are dragged out by arresting officers. Anything less will just feed the "rehabilitated presidency" and "new, improved GOP" angles.

"he's got to go if the Democrats are going to believe Bush's talk of getting along"

It is all an act. Karl does not have to win another election for this president. His loss at this point is trivial. He is about to lose his official position, but is still just an email/fax/phone call away regarding policy. The man never goes anywhere without his blackberry and Bush certainly doesn't want to lose his ability to energize his radical base. This actually makes Rove more dangerous, a free lancer of sorts.

151. He (Rove) ain't gone yet.
So I wouldn't be popping the champagne corks just yet. And as for "President Bush's new push for bipartisanship" ---- other than posing for a few stilted pictures with Pelosi (they ALL looked stilted, including Pelosi) and making nice-nice, chit-chat smalltalk while the flashbulbs were flashing, Bush is still being his old stubborn, never retreat, blinkered self. He's still nominating controversial conservative judges, still supporting Bolton, appointing Dr. Eric Keroack to head National Family Planning. With the exception (and its a big one) of Rumsfeld, it's all status quo, i.e. the same old shit. I want to see some genuine change, some facts, some action and some reality proving Bush has suddenly seen the bipartisan light.

152. You see it? This is exactly how they 'de-spread' gook. One
message comes from one source - the opposite from another. All day people are talking about the right wing attack on Dems. Making a mountain... Spreading it thick.... vile and nasty..... We know that the networks take marching orders from the WH by partnerships at the corporate head level.

Now, they repeat that George wants to play nice with kicking out Rove?

Rove will be even more lethal in his own bumbling way - as RNC grenade tosser.

Rove was already going to leave for his new job - he's trained Bartlett - so they decide to turn it. Always figure out how how to cook up five or more pluses from some change of scene or scandal. Lies lies lies - piled and layered.

Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 12:40 AM by barb162
That's one amazing scorecard. All Bush has to do is complete 2 more years in office and Rove doesn't really have to be there for that, though I suspect Bush would feel more comfortable with him around. I don't know what "old style" means because he got Bush elected just 2 short years ago. He's a creep but he sure served his master well.

The good guys have not even been sworn in and already they are saying the politics of hate and fear is old style. They better get the memo to Inhofe and all the house repukes because they are saying they plan to fight the dems and bring about destruction.
As for turd blossom leaving. On the day of his departure someone should blare out as he leaves "don't let the door hit you in your fat ass!"

Did Barbara set Georgie down and tell him the facts of life? They seem to talk the same language. Forget about that Higher Father, this is serious shit."
