Kidnapped Merc Had Second Thoughts, Had Planned to Leave Iraq Early
http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/special_packages/iraq/16033376.htm

Reuben intended to earn enough money to buy a house and a Hummer and then come home, his brother told the newspaper. But just a few days ago, he told his sister-in-law that he would be cutting short his work in Iraq.

"He told me he would be home in a few days," Jennifer Reuben, Patrick Reuben's wife, told the Star Tribune. She said Paul Reuben talked to her on the phone Saturday and told her how "scary and dangerous" it was in Iraq.

"He was worried about his safety, and he kept saying he loved us all," she said Thursday night.

"This is it," Jennifer said Reuben told her. "I'm coming home, and I'm never going back. They hate us here. They look you in the eye and say, 'Go home, Americans.' "

Did you ever take the time to realize what you really were? A dog of war.

4. I'd hope he's say the same
if the Iraqis had invaded his homeland. Gambling your life to buy a house and a Hummer just isn't worth it.

I remember when my nephews's wife wanted him to go back so they could buy a home. My sis, other sibblings, his dad, and his sis sat her a$$ down and told her he wasn't going back so she could do whatever she thought necessary, including leaving him but their daughter wasn't moving with her. Thankfully he listened to them and they're living free in the basement apartment my sister converted for them so that he could go to college. He's just completed his third semester and works as well.
Talk about skewed and screwed priorities.

5. some people just don't get that
a person does not warrant the treatment of a guest just simply because they step into somebody's home.

6. no sympathy for the merc, but I do feel for his wife
not a good thing to have a loved one in a situation like that no matter what their deal is.

7. My life for a house and a Hummer? I don't think so.
It is greed that spurs this war/invasion on.
