I don't even know what a PlayStation is. I feel so...so alone.
WTF kind of gadget can get Americanski's acting so batshit crazy-Again?! I have never seen one or played one of these things. :bounce:
But I did laugh my ass off this morning when I heard the report this morning of the asshat who was sprinting into the store when the doors opened and ran right into a pole and had to be carried off and sent to the hospital.

I swear if you just put a mass marketing campaign into convincing the American Public that the fashionable place to be was in a sea of circling sharks you wouldn't be able to sell tickets fast enough.

over cabbage patch dolls. Again - consumer society is as pathologial as it is pathetic.

16. I remember that!! It was horrendously pathetic! Over a DOLL! |
|
And remember the Elmo craze? I just shake my head when I see such sick and disgusting behavior. Over unimportant STUFF. It's no wonder the elites think we are fucking idiots. Most of us are.

5. Imagine if people lined up to vote, or to feed the hungry... |
|
Instead they line up for Playstations, Star Wars movies, and whatever else they tell us we should line up for.
Incidentally, I don't have any problem with people doing this, it's a free country, but I hope they realize they are being manipulated by Sony, who made only a small number of these units available before Christmas in order to cause this frenzy. I don't even fault Sony, it's great marketing, but it's still manipulation.
And damn that thing is expensive! Not to mention the cost of the games...

is that this country is not free in any sense of the word. In fact it's quite expensive.

...faulted. Marketing is communication, & all communication is manipulation. What counts is if the manipulation is done ethically & responsibly.

Most of this product excitement is about people buying a scarce commodity and re-selling it on E-Bay for a huge price. One bidding war went into the millions before collapsing back down into the thousands. This is a sign of market economy failure and the savvy of people who don't give a damn about the games and in fact won't purchase anything to actually play on the console. The media is amused by the fenzy but won't dig into this phenomenon. SONY itself is taking a loss while the lucky scalpers net thousands from the rich who don't know the system is dangerously defective or at least the Edsel of video game consoles.
The "customers", except for the nuts bidding big bucks for the resold machines, are not stupid. Again, it is the media itself that is brain-detached from the hype it loves.

10. Shame on the corporations that spend months hyping something |
|
and then deliberately create a "shortage" of their product. You KNOW they could have produced enough.
They just want the free publicity and probably are laughing their asses off at the stupid americans camping on sidewalks and fistfighting each other over a plastic box
and go into hysterics when they watch people re-selling them to "desperate" parents who work 3 jobs to buy their kid that plastic box...at 3 times the price because the stores are "out" of them...
Too bad the public doesn;t ever wise up.
I would love it if just ONCE, people all said, "We'll just wait until it goes on sale"..and refused to buy until after January:)

18. I agree. People are such lemmings in this country... |
|
And, you're right, they WILL go on sale. Wait till they show up in garage sales, I say.
Once I played vid games, but after while, I figured out that they are all pretty much the same, with the exception of image rendering and the sheer volume of information you can cram into a hard drive. But the theme's are the same. I would just as soon play Wolfenstein as any of the shooters that are out there today. Much cheaper. :-)

Frankly I'd rather watch paint dry than play computer games.
You should try it some time. It's really rather interesting.
The job paid very well, and for the first time in my career I wasn't working for a bank, a scumbag consulting firm, or the military-industrial complex.
