The last time oil was under $55/barrel, gas was much lower than $2.299/gl
And that wasn't around any holidays, if I recall rightly.

..is still under $2 here in Texas. But on a recent trip to NC it was going up on election day.

4. Gasoline has its own futures contract, and its own supply and demand
Biggest problem is that refinery capacity and bottlenecks, seasonal mix changes, and specialized transportation of finished product are all factors for gasoline that don't affect crude oil.

BTW, I paid $2.16 yesterday (Michigan), which is the same price to the penny I paid 13 months ago, according to an old receipt I found in the center console.

funny how they have had soooooooo many bottlenecks and changes lately.


Don't buy into the BIG OIL propaganda... look at their RECORD PROFITS... re-evaluate their 'excuses'.

Just pointing out that the markets for gasoline and oil track semi-independently from each other because of structural differences.

12. Here in western Wisconsin
the price of gas was $2.29 a gallon for a week to ten days before the election and that is still the price more than ten days after the election.
