Why aren't there THOUSANDS of Americans standing in protest
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 06:38 PM by fooj
on the steps of the Senate building RIGHT NOW? RIGHT NOW!! They'll have to hear us if they can't get to their cars (or drivers) unless they walk through the people that they have betrayed! We should be OUT...IN FORCE---DENOUNCING this travesty of justice. I'm ready to take a PHYSICAL stand! Are you?

Peace.

1. do you live in America??
In my office of about 20, Im the only one who even knew there was a vote today. They are fucking lucking to know who their Senators are.

But they know all about Angelina having a baby.

16. Exactly right
In my circle of friends I am the most politically aware of them all. I am like the Stephen Hawkings of politics compared to what they know.

I'm not even going to talk about where I work. I feel like the guy in the Monster.com commercial surrounded by monkeys

18. Excellent point - our priorities are all screwed up
But as long as I can watch the latest episode of American Idol, then everything is just fine. Right? Right? Ut-oh... :scared:

25. and about the next episode of American Idol.
Most people don't even KNOW what the SCOTUS does. And they take abortion and other rights for granted. They simply just don't know. "Fili- WHAT?!?!?"

They won't see you, unless the security guards tell them about the protest out in front of the building.

8. Americans as a whole are stupid
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 06:45 PM by Seen the light
Granted, so is everyone else, but I don't dare say that Americans care about this. Because they don't.

On another note, DU is to blame for some of this in a roundabout way. If there weren't great progressive places for us to vent our frustration out at, most of the people here tonight might be out protesting.

10. Because they have us all busy trying to save our families and
homes by slaving away at jobs that don't pay living wages, living in fear of getting ill or old or disabled. We're too busy earning tax cuts for the rich and famous. Can you afford to take days off to travel long distances to protest? Indentured servitude, not citizenship.

11. Love the idea, but....
I live in California, have a half a tank of gas and half a pack of smokes. I don't think they'll wait for me!

People may already be there, but you know how the "Liberal Mainstream Media" works...they wouldn't report it anyway.

On another note, I hope everyone is planning on attending a protest rally during the chimps' state of confusion.

Peace!

The committed activists should be there- rest of the average Americans
that Kerry and Kennedy were talking about have to lose their rights to fight for them back. That's human nature. This stacked court may mean a horrible America for some time-but it may be the only chance to wake up the American people-when they start to see what has been lost. Nothing has been lost yet. And we are called hysterical for seeing the future.

However, they all vote Republican (I'm pretty sure.) The one Democrat in my office moved to a blue state.

19. Are you in the streets now?
Are you on the steps of the Senate building? If not, why not? I see these posts all the time asking why people aren't "taking it to the streets" yet, and I always wonder why the authors of these threads take the time to repeatedly ask this question rather than lead by example by having already "taken to the streets".

If you want a revolution, go start one.

21. Because they (the public) aren't concerned
Now if it was announced that Alito would cause the cancellation of American Idol you would probably have huge protests, uprisings, governments falling, dogs living with cats...

33. There were thousands of Americans demonstrating in DC
They were the fundamentalists cheering on St. Alito and praising Jeebus for His Reincarnation as the Blessed Bush. And their prayers have been answered.
