Martines comment aimed at the Religious right??? Seeking political divorce?

Martinez said continued Republican success in Florida was a sign that state Republicans needed to lead a return to "the party of ideas." Florida Republicans held onto the governor's office and two out of three cabinet seats. He attributed GOP losses nationally to the party's failure to speak "in a unified voice."

This is likely to be Martinez' biggest challenge in his role as general chairman. The first-term senator takes control of the party in January, as President Bush enters the latter half of his second term with deep division in the party on issues such as immigration. Many Republicans also are concerned about the policy toward the war in Iraq, and have criticized the tremendous growth in federal spending since Bush took office.

<b>"I think the lesson we learned was that too often we were not speaking with a unified voice, that we allowed others to shape the agenda for us," Martinez said.</b>

McCain said something very similiar in his speech a few days back.

Are the Republican trying to blame their problems on the religious right? Are they throwing Dobson under the train?

Remember that the fundies are now complaining that the GOP has "abandoned Values coters" in the last several years. And I think Kuo's assertion may have really irked the whackos.

Seems to me that they are pointing their fingers at one another. Looks like GOP incpetence trumped Fundy Hegemony in this last election but that may in fact be due to the fact that the state iniitiatives which drives fundy voters to the polls may have been tapped out this election cycle.
