The Castagana Correspondence: Right What You Know

Surprise! Nancy Pelosi's powder pal doesn't just think Katherine Harris is a "remarkable lady"—as we reported after perusing what appear to be his Free Republic posts—he puts his money where his mouth is.

According to an FBI affidavit obtained by Radar, Chad Conrad Castagana, who was arrested Monday on suspicion of sending powder-filled envelopes to Keith Olbermann, Jon Stewart, Sumner Redstone, David Letterman, Pelosi, and New York Senator Charles Schumer, purchased a $15 money order made out to "Friends of Katherine Harris" last September at a Woodland Hills, Calif., post office while he was picking up the envelopes and stamps he employed to terrorize the liberal elite.

According to the affidavit, Castagana, an "average looking" 39-year-old white guy who lives with his parents in Woodland Hills, attempted to send 13 fake anthrax letters to the aforementioned victims starting in September. We say "attempted" because the first letter, which contained the message, "Do you know Alan Berg? You should. Death to demagogues," and a harmless white powder, was sent to a poor sap on the Upper West Side named Jon Stewart—but not that Jon Stewart. (Alan Berg is the Jewish talk-radio host murdered by white-supremacists in Denver in 1984.)

18. Not only that he tried to frame William Shatner for it IKYN ...
Edited on Sun Nov-19-06 10:43 AM by TheBaldyMan
from the affadavit:

regarding the return addressses of the envelopes ...
<snip>and the third return address was "William Shatner, <redacted>, Hollywood Hills, CA, 90410." All addresses were checked through the United States Postal system and determined to be false.</snip>
The other bogus addresses belonged to guys called 'Finkelstein' and 'Goldberg'. The FBI has the cheek to include "Anti-semitic literature and or left wing hate rhetoric" in the materials covered by warrant! Has anybody here seen left wing hate rhetoric EVER?

20. Yeah, the turd tried to smear Susan Estrich (she of the massive shoulderpads during the Dukakis
campaign), and Jay Leno ... what a smooth operator!

The Finkelstein foolishness is a bit of a hoot--there's a law firm with that name, and a rabbi who owns an holistic health center out in Malibu--perhaps he was trying to pin this nonsense on them...or it could be that his hatred for Jews caused him to pick a "Jewish" sounding name.

I suppose the FBI is covering their bases, that way there can be no accusation that they are targeting anyone for their political beliefs. Either that, or they naively think that people who would like to see an equitable solution to the Palestinian issue MUST be anti-Semitic...which is of course absurd.

Any guesses on what the defense will be? I'm betting on the "He's koo-koo, your honor....diminished capacity...poor thing needs TREATMENT, not prison...after all, he's an adult, unemployed, and living with his mother...no driver's license...!" I say lock his ass up, myself!!

24. His Ma has diabetes so I hope he isn't jailed
it's about the only worthwhile thing about his miserable existance. It's probably the only thing that will keep his carcase out of jail, he can care for an old lady in poor health.

2. Where's the mugshot? Why has the mugshot not been released?
I find it a bit strange that this idiot's mugshot has not been plastered all over the news since Tuesday (wen he was arrested).

Special treatment?

23. How old are you? Do you intend to get a license?
Those permits aren't good forever.

If you live in an area with good public transport, there's no need to have a license. I know many New Yorkers and Bostonians who just never bothered, because they take subways and taxis.

But this guy lives in California, a state with shitty public transport. In a suburb. He's a gray haired adult, who doesn't work, lives with his mother, and spends all of his time railing against lefties and praising the womanly attributes of rightwing hatebags like Coulter and Ingraham.

That's some SERIOUS arrested development. At a minimum!

6. A few days ago,
a DU'er posted that it's typical for there not to be a mugshot for federal felony cases (or something like that, sorry I don't remember the particulars). Don't know if it's true, but I'll see if I can find the post to clarify.

16. I think you misunderstand. It's in quotes, because I am riffing on FR-speak.....
"Moran" for moron, and "Looser" for loser, to say nothing of "hugh" for huge, are characteristic spelling peculiarities of that crowd.

They also tend to employ the "excitable number one," which is interdispersed with the exclamation point, when they are typing too quickly to properly hold down the shift key!!11!!!11!1!1!!1

Ann Coulter is a Goddess and I worship Laura Ingraham and Michele Malkin .

English is the langauge of the United States of America- - our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution are written in the langauge that expresses our civilized freedoms .

Spanish is the language of Banana Republics, beyond that it belongs in a European country.

15. It's not having no driver's license, being unemployed or living with your mother
alone that makes you a loser.

A combination of the three, added to spending lots of your time on the Internets in a community of people who share your particular brand of hatred, however...that usually adds up to loser.

never heard of such a thing. What would such a degree qualify one for? Doesn't even sound like a technical training degree.
