1. The military is largely uninformed or misinformed.
A distinct advantage for the chickenhawks of this administration.

2. One would think a fracking memo would be circulated at least
I was flabergasted. Wow, there's a word you don't get an opportunity to use enough lol.

7. They do not have access to DU. And yes the Air Force is the most
well informed of all four major service branches, the Navy a close second, the Army a distant 3rd, and the Marines a distant 4th.

8. Let me also clarify. The news is no longer the same.
Whereas in the past newspapers, radio, and television used to be locally owned and presented news based on how they observed it. Now, news is manufactured by megacorporations (more concerned about the entertainment than news because it sells more papers) and disseminated to their various holdings in newspapers, radio, and television. My critique isn't solely on the military, it is also on the general public who are also largely uninformed and misinformed. Case in point, it took this long for everyone to catch on to the "debacle in the desert" whereas people on this forum have pointed this out from 2002 !

10. That doesn't necessarily mean they watch it
these are 18-20 year olds who only know killing, drinking and fucking. Still I would put out a memo.

13. "That doesn't necessarily mean they watch it"
just like normal civilian folks that don't ever watch the news.

3. Did Faux not talk about Rummy's firing?
I'm sure they mentioned it at least once, but did they discuss it at all past that?

Maybe these are were only allowed to watch Faux on their base?

15. To be fair I haven't yet heard one of them say
"That asshole Kerry" I suspect they are as oblivious to that as the Rummy situation. I have actually met a few very well informed, and against the war i might add, soldiers recently too. I just couldn't believe that there isn't some offical announcement by Radar over the loudspeaker or something.

12. That's been almost the universal response I've recieved Riverside
Their whole world is just the men and women beside them in a firefight.

16. Boys will be boys and many are just boys,
I lived in the Middle of that life for years and I would say the young guys were just that. Like the teen-ages on the side lines at local foot ball games. My husband who was a life man in the navy used to tell them. shut up, sit up and hear what people say. He would get so mad at these young boys and as he said he was one once and learned to do that to get ahead. Besides that you should see how smart my father got between my age of 16 and 19. It was breath taking.

17. I wish you all would realize
how little the secretary of Defense is to the average soldier or marine. He isn't in their realm of thought....especially if they are worried about getting shot...or getting laid.
