It's not the Aye voting Democrats that particularly bother me. |
|
If a Democrat senator wants to stand up and say, "I will not support the fillibuster and must vote Aye for cloture because XYZ..." I would have a modicum of respect. Even if I didn't necessarily agree with the reason, I could admire the stance.
Instead I get Bill Nelson.
Bill Nelson who was indicated on CSPAN.com has having a "declared intention" to vote No on cloture. Bill Nelson who stood up and voted Aye instead. Bill Nelson whose staffers told callers he was voting Aye because it did not appear there were enough No votes.
So instead of following through on a declared intention, supporting his fellow democrats or perhaps even his conscience...he wants to vote with the winners. That's just sick. THAT is what makes dictatorships possible.
So how many No votes were lost because Senators wanted to "go with the majority?"

1. I think his excuse was a lie. He sold out to the Republicans. |
|
He just trotted out his unbelievable little story to placate the masses.
