Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 08:24 PM by Dr Fate
As opposed to focusing on all 19 of them.

It would work if they KNEW why it was happening.

Just a thought- it seems more feasible to target 2 or 3 DEMs in the primaries- ones that we know we can remove, thus making the point or "flexing the muscle" or whatever.

The key is to keep working and stay focused- if we are really going to do this, it needs to be a focused effort...

I'll repost this next week once we are thinking more clear...

1. i say most vulnerable, with blue states, lieberman and cantwell
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 08:27 PM by seabeyond
cantwell has a progressive going against her, and the one going against lieberman i believe is a repug turned democrat. that kinda bothers me. dont need one just taking turns with another. but i agree. two. money goes into those two campaigns. let it be known. and go after those stops, take em down

2. Cantwell's opponent seems to be in position to accept donations.
I don't think we have to lift a finger for Mary Landrieu. She's going to go down on her own. Lieberman's opponent doesn't seem to be anywhere close to giving Lieberman heartburn if L. is up in 2006. I don't know where anybody else stands.

28. I already sent him money today.
It's a Paypal donation system. In the "for" field, I typed "Cantwell's opponent in the primary".

Think he'll get the message?

3. Maybe one at a time
First destroy Ben Nelson - he is a raunch repuke if I ever saw one. Then move on to the next on the list. We could probably spend a concerted month on each and really fuck with them and possibly encourage their defeat - or at least a change of the "agenda"?

4. 2 easiest Dems are probably Lieberman and Cantwell
And while we're at it, I'd like us to go after Chafee as well. Target those 3 and make darn sure that they- and the rest of the Beltway crowd- knows exactly why the contributions are flowing to their opponents. Primary opponents in Lieberman and Cantwell's cases of course.

15. Ned Lamont is a Democratic activist and Clinton supporter
He is millionare in his own right and he is antiwar. Lamont is running against Holy Joe in the primary.

Greenwich millionaire Ned Lamont is strongly considering a challenge against Lieberman for the Democratic nomination to the Senate. Lamont, whose active interest in politics has been limited to developing a dead-on JFK imitation, a run for the state Senate in 1990, service on the state's pension advisory board, raising money for Bill Clinton and working with the liberal think tank the Brookings Institution on budget issues, may have found his unlikely moment.

At 52, Lamont is tan, fit and possessed of an easy confidence that often comes with being born into a fortune and making it bigger. He understands the long odds against succeeding in a primary against an incumbent senator. His interest in making the race springs from issues, not burning personal ambition. Lamont declared in a recent interview in his cable company office that "two things really got my goat." The first was the war in Iraq, which Lamont has opposed from the start. The other was last year's transportation bill with its emblematic millions for the "Bridge to Nowhere" in Alaska.

Iraq, however, is the issue that will drive Lamont's race. He was inspired when hawkish Democratic U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., called for a withdrawal of American troops late last year.

That provided a stark contrast to Lieberman's stalwart support of the war, particularly his optimistic assessment of it in a Wall Street Journal piece in November. Lieberman's chummy relationship with President Bush has added to the "groundswell of anger" that Lamont detects.

to some dems? talk on radio about jsut this. they say that lieberman then threatens to run as an independent and htough lieberman has lost a lot of democratic support in connecticut, he has gained a lot of repug votes. now that seems to be the talk amongst the repugs cause surprise surprise, i asked my very fox news brotehr what dem he has EVER supported...... seeing how he is center, ya right... he popped out with lieberman. almost knocked me on my butt

5. On Point! factor in 2 or 3 Dems that supported
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 08:36 PM by Pithy Cherub
King George II and fascism with a derelict aye vote on IWR and an Aye vote to end cloture on Alito. Two Life & Death Aye votes. That certainly still leaves the focus on "Joementum" Lieberman and "Can't Possibly be a Democrat" - Cantwell.

That will teach the others a real lesson when they see others pay at the polls - and that leads us to electronic voting...:nuke:

9. With New Orleans washed into the sea...
...Louisiana will be red for some time. Don't have to do much of anything to see Mary leave, which is why her betrayal is so outrageous. She KNOWS damn well she's not going to keep that seat with New Orleans gone, why let them jam their foot in her ass on her way out the door?

nothing at all, regardless of their vote.

Evan Birch Bayh for example.

the whole big tent.

And we don't need to be learning tactics of the Rove. "make an example?". No thanks.

I think it is up to the people in his district. That would be democracy. And it will be.

32. 90% of the time his voting is fine. He's a hawk on Israel - I'm sure
the GOP are extracting a pound of flesh. Keep in mind crazy McPMofIRAN is running around saying the Holocaust never happened.

Not everyone in the Democratic Party is exactly the same.

Don't know why he gave Alito a pass - but he was one of 17 this time.

So give it a break.

Think 2006. Think the Senate will have control to make and pass legislation. Think - we need everyone we got up there now. Think - the last thing the Dems should do is start cutting off parts of their party.

Think!

with a note, of course. We need viable candidates to oppose them in the primaries-and we'll need to work our collective asses off FOR those true dems too!

30. They are all part of the problem
I agree the lowest hanging fruit must be the first to go, but there is no reason we can't go after them all eventually. Primaries are healthy, and it will keep them from straying, even if they shape up after we take down/frighten Lieberman and Cantwell.
