We fought hard, and we lost. What that means...
What that means is that we are still alive and we can fight even harder next time! I'm not gonna pretend this wasn't an important battle. It was. The consequences are dire. The battle is going to be that much harder in the future.

But we have learned a lot.

Let's face it, the odds were all but "insurmountable". We changed the odds from "insurmontable" to "possible". Even though we didn't win, we made a huge impact.

So, now, my suggestion is to write a bunch of angry emails, but DON"T SEND THEM! Give yourself an opportunity to vent your anger and frustration. Then, after all of us have had an opportunity to vent our anger and frustration (thank the Deity for DU!), it's time to start the REAL work.

Write your local newspapers. Write the media. Just do so after you have had a chance to vent your anger.

And remember, it could be worse. I have Frist and Alexander as my Senators. TOP THAT!

It is not a time to roll over nnd die, it's time to roll up our sleeves and do just what we did - only BETTER!

1. And now we know who our friends are, and aren't.

2. I say send the emails.
Let those bastards know just how bitterly disappointed and angry people are. Let them know if you are seriously considering walking away.

Let them know.

Let them know.

Let them know.

They all live inside that magic land known as "The Beltway". They do not share our concerns, our day-to-day exigencies and vicissitudes. It's a chess game for a lot of them. A pissing match. A comparative penile dimensions contest.

Too many of them could give a shit about us. Except at election time. Witness Jeff Bingaman's statement: THAT'S how it works. Really.

6. Yes!
Fuckin' A - no need for us to be wimps along with most of the Democratic caucus. I told Byrd's phone boy to tell him he's received his last dime from me because his Constitutional booklet theatrics led me to believe he cared about this disaster along with the many other Bush debacles.

Once again the Dems look like they stand for nothing.

4. I can top that with Gov. Bob Ehrlich
He's our gov. in Maryland, I call him Gov. No Slots, because he ran on a campaign of legalizing gambling which never happened. His motto is "So honest it hurts" and He
LOVES Diebold and he hates election reform. And the pukes LOVE him and are thinking
of running him for prez.

I agree with you, we fought a good fight, and we have accomplished
something. They know we are here and they know that we are not buying their spin. With
the Diebold filter, they really don't know that they have never represented a majority
vote and they keep coming up with the nutjob ideas which they think will please us. Like
you are over insured, so drop your current medical insurance and go get your own insurance.
My sister has had to do that but it's expensive, huge deductible and basically only
covers her if she falls headfirst into a volcano.

7. Oh, God...Thad Cochran, Trent Lott, AND Haley Barbour....
it couldn't possibly get any worse than Mississippi, politics-wise, but, on the brighter side, Mississippi has never even PRETENDED to be anything but despicable, so there's nowhere to go but up. When you have the worst politicians in the country, there's a certain satisfaction in NO expectations. A predictability that's almost comforting. If I were a Democrat in West Virginia today, I'd be on the brink of despair, not to mention hari-kiri. But we've lost, and for those of us beyond a certain age, that means that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Period. For you younger folks, maybe the day will come when the monsters will be thrown out, but not in my lifetime, I fear. The long, cold night has settled upon this poor country, and the dawn, if any, is very, very far away.
