Dan Rather Reports on HD Net, impressive!
I caught Dan Rather in his new role as news magazine reporter on the obscure HDNet. The reporting was excellent, about lobbying and predatory lending. Looks like Rather might have something here. I would guess his reach is not widespread, but I thought the reporting was on target and well done.

Some online info:

1. I always loved Dan and hung in there watching CBS news even
when I knew he couldn't do justice to the news. I stopped watching any network news after he was gone. However, although I can get HDTV on my satellite feed, I can't afford the hardware. I do hope he does get an audience though.

4. Same here.
Direct TV has it but my analog sets aren't up to the job.

I'll have to content myself with transcripts plus the excellent Link TV.

2. I saw his promo's and it looked good. Sad he's on something called
HD Net. I don't have an HDTV...but I have cable but not the upward tier for HBO and other stuff.

I wonder if they think "liberals" will go out and buy HDTV so that we can get some good reporting. Just like I had to get Satellite Radio to be able to hear Air America Radio...:-( Liberals forced to pay while the rest get Rush Limbaugh and Televangelists.

Life is NOT FAIR!!!! And...Supposedly WE OWN THE AIRWAVES...ALL OF US!

11. Satellite or Cable? If cable, you typically need to purchase a Hi-Def pkg.

13. Yea it's cable. All I know about it isthere is a series of stations in
my lineup that are prefixed by HD. I've never clicked on any of them because I knew I didn't have the right receiver.

3. I've been watching HDNet for a few years. Glad to see more reporting on there.
The segment on the lobbyists was great.

7. Yep, that lobbyist he was interviewing, defending his...
...position on things....well, he came across as a real slime ball. Don't think he helped his side of things.

10. You could record it off a sat receiver or cable box and convert it, maybe
But it's broadcast in 1080i.

17. Yeah, and I saw a retrospective on the Space Shuttle's return
to flight on Discovery HD today, with Walter Cronkite.

I told my wife, "Between him and Dan Rather, Aren't you glad we got HD? We can still see actual journalists doing their job!"
