Watching some GOP brats right now in Pittsburgh |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-22-06 01:56 AM by demodonkey
Am in a late night restaurant in Pittsburgh, watching four freeper-type rich kid brats from Carnegie-Mellon... what a bunch of morans. (apologies to CMU alumns but these kids ARE morans)
Smart ass girl: "Old people like to play slots because they are senile" "Hillary Clinton is sooooo liberal" "The trouble with the Democrats is that e ery candidate they run is an asshole" "Maybe women shouldn't vote... my mother's friend voted for Kerry because she thought John Edwards was hot"
Then their food comes and she chews with her mouth open. :puke:

3. People voted for * because they thought he was the kind of guy |
|
they'd like to have a beer with. I think voting for a hot-looking guy makes just as much sense. People also voted for * because he put on an act of being dumber than a box of rocks. Why you'd put someone you believed to be stupid in the presidency really puzzles me. I think we need smart people in government. Elections shouldn't be a popularity contest.
A lot of college kids are morans today yet think they know everything.

on campus, I recall the RW types kept a lot lower profile and even tried to be "cool." That was always a joke with us in SDS.

11. Someone on my professional mailing list justified a vote for Bush |
|
like this in 2000: "Al Gore is smart and knows it, so he'll tend to have a top-down, dictatorial management style. Bush is dumb and knows it, so he'll rely on his expert advisors and have a more consensu-based style."

6. My daughter got her master's |
|
degree in flute performance from Carnegie Mellon.
The flute studio there is wonderful.
She was a member of the university senate, representing her department.
She was also a graduate adviser for her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. The sorority girls came to her graduate recital en masse. They also gave her flowers and good wishes when she and her partner got engaged. Not a single one of the girls was upset about having a gay adviser. Of course, as an undergrad, she got almost a hundred letters and e-mails of support from alumnae who were happy that her chapter had pledged a gay member.
My husband has a good friend from Pittsburgh. They went to college together. The guy is now retired, but he was a special education teacher for thirty years. He had a good time showing us his favorite parts of the city.
I really liked visiting Pittsburgh. My daughter was happy there. I guess there are idiots everywhere. I hope you run into a few of the non-idiots sometimes, too.

Whenever I'd chew with my mouth open, I'd hear about it.
Was at the my niece's baby shower before this recent election. Two of my niece's friends were talking about voting for Lynn Swann. There exact quote was, "Maybe we need someone who has no political experience as governor." I was thinking, " We already have a moron in the White House. We don't need a moron in the Governor's mansion."

12. WRCT (CMU's radio station) carries DemocracyNow ever morning... |
|
Like any school, it's a mixed bag. But John Kerry spoke there in 2004 and the turnout was HUGE. There were maybe 10-12 freeper types who protested and thousands who cheered.

I hate that type of shit. They aren't interested in any real ideas, they just want to hone their snark. More politics as entertainment. Her goal in life is probably a book deal and to show up on talk shows in a mini-skirt.

I know a blonde Barbie doll of a girl who think George Bush is "awesome" because he's "cute" and also cuts taxes and "hates the illegals". She asked me one day if I thought it would be inappropriate to hug the president if she ever saw him because he's so "hot".
I told her she's the next Ann Coulter, but I was surprised she didn't know who that was.
