Do You Realize The State Of The Union Address Will Be Before Our Congress? |
|
Nancy has said the 110th Congress, House side at least, will be seated on January 4. George won't schedule the State of the Union Address until sometime around the 3rd week of the month.
I would please me a great deal if our Congress were to sit mute through the entire address. Stand in perfect silence as he enters the room. Sit in silence as he delivers his tripe. Stand and exit in silence when he has shat his propaganda out.
It would be perfect. No applause, no one to encourage the dimwit. You think he's a poor speaker now, just imagine how he would be before a silent audience. Think of what it would say to the nation to see our Congress acting in unison to reject our Unitary Executive. I think it would be quite a statement.

1. They're still too concerned with appearances to do that. (nt) |

11. A "Concern for Appearances" Would Be What They Were Showing |
|
At least that is how I would see it.
Look George Bush, the President, he's a clown. The man is just pure bullshit top to bottom. Who would stand up and appaud bullshit? Your Representative, mine? I certainly hope not.

13. I think we're at crossed purposes |

I agree with you that they shouldn't applaud, that they should sit mute during Bush**'s speech. But based on their unwillingness to send such small but powerful messages in recent years due to concern over political appearances, I believe they'll applaud politely in January.

12. Seems like recent history doesn't matter. |
|
People really should see what happens before responding.
Just an example bucking tradition.

17. I don't know about that. Remember this year, they didn't applaud, Hillary |
|
looked like she was about to pop a blood vessel a few times, and the lack of enthusiasm from the Dem side was very obvious. I think it would be very appropriate to be polite and respectful, but no need to go overboard.
We all know the sh!t Bush has done to hurt America and its people, so he really doesn't deserve any of the pomp and circumstance of being pResident.

2. They should at least invite Cindy Sheehan |
|
And let her wear her body-count T-shirt. Seat her in the front row, if possible.

4. I like it - it still shows that they respect the office, by standing and being civil, |
|
but the silence lets the criminal know that he's talking bullshit and they know it.

9. Any bets on whether Lieberman will be the first on his feet for ovations? |
|
I suspect it will be between him and Ben Nelson as to who stands first even before the Republicans do....I guess I am just a sore winner....but I do not like betrayal...

15. I'm sure that not only will he lead every ovation |
|
But he'll squeal like a pre-teen girl at a Backstreet Boys concert as well.
