Police Agree to Protester Reforms (DC)

This case goes back to the abuse of protesters at the 2001 Inauguration, when DU pretty much got its start protesting on a cold, moist Washington day. I was too sick to even think about going downtown to register my disgust, but Mr. Laurel was there and saw people getting hit while not doing a damn thing. Afterward, he was stunned to not only see nary a lick of media coverage, but to hear reporters talk of how few protesters were there.

1. Sounds about right. If a democrat gets back in the WH,

it will be Okie-dokie to once again protest..with vigor...and full media coverage.

And their Porta-Potty Patrols. Because as soon as the Democrats take back any power in DC, not only will the media suddenly re-discover their spines, they'll re-discover their skepticism, cynicism and just plain bitchiness. And because they haven't used them in so long, they'll be all over the Democrats in ways that should have Republicans on their knees thanking their deity for the kid glove treatment the GOP got for six years.

Now that the protestors are going to be the 101st Fighting Keyboarders, bullying and threatening as only someone living in Mommy's basement can, the cops and the media will develop a new respect for vigorous direct citizen action.
