Attn: Skinner and Elad-Alito brought us together. Now is the time |
|
to think about the force you have created here. Ever since the Abramoff scandal I have been thinking, why not us? Why don't we become an official political group? Why don't we hire a lobbyist? There are over 80K members here. We donate money to a group many of us do not even support. Why not harness the brains, the numbers and the money and truly make our voices heard? I know it would not be simple, but I believe it can be done and I think you will hear me nag about this for a long time.
Thanks for all you have done, but think about the future. AARP did it. We can too.

Let's get rid of the voting machines first!!! Let's make this a priority or nothing else we do is going to matter.

15. 84,000 and counting, minus lurking freepers and those who've already |
|
been "tombstoned".
Still, that's a WHOLE LOT of Progressive Democrats. :)

Great idea. The only way to beat them is by fighting them at their own game.

That is a great idea. I hope it is taken seriously. I think you are right and now the time is to sieze the day. Perhaps we should take a poll on the next item to attack. What's next? We rename the alito section and hammer away with our talents. I say we should demand an independent counsel for the NSA investigation. But put it to a vote. I am sure that we are stronger together than we are apart. Thanks again. YD

13. Sounds good. I plan to donate again this year to DU because |
|
this is the place to be. I have been a member since the coup of 2000, used to post a lot, but don't post much anymore, not as much time, etc., but I will always support DU and donate, even though I have been robbed by Bush since 2000. We had the coup of 2000, Gore won, but Dems were afraid to say anything. Whatever, I found this site on a protest sign in D.C. at the inauguration protests, which CNN tried to hide. We have the numbers and the corporations have the money. Why do you thing the rich fixed the elections? They can't win in a fair election, the numbers are against them, so they cheat. They are crooked crooks. Our Dems need to fight back, but we now see that many of them are not doing such. I will never vote for a Republican, NEVER! Grass roots we go!!!!!!!!!!

We'd be a lot more potent a force if we had that kind of organization and our own lobbyist up on the Hill.

22. Skinner: Do you feel like Gandalf when Frodo offered him the ring? |
|
Well I understand that it might be scary, yes. But I think this is an idea that deserves some consideration. There is a lot of power and time represented here that is squandered. 80,000 people can get an awful lot of shit done. Hell, even a few thousand, if organized, would be a force to reckon with.
