Africa baby deaths 'preventable'
More than one million African babies die within their first month of life, a World Health Organisation report says.

The report reveals many newborns are dying from infections which could be easily and cheaply prevented.

But statistics show even in the poorest African countries, investment in anti-natal and newborn care could dramatically reduce mortality rates.

The WHO report, released in Geneva, highlights the inequalities in global health.

1. I read that this morning.
It's horrible.

But one of the first thoughts through my mind was whether these nameless deaths are recorded and counted in computing the official life expectancies and mortalities.
