Feels like we're stuck in the 1970's, when Democratic cowardice began |

God I'm so tired of this political haplessness of Democrats and the left. I'm 54. Not old, but old enough to have less patience with this crap than I used to. Less tolerance for excuses for politics that contiunues to avoid the real issues. Less tolerence for Democratic rationalizations.
This all started with Richard Nixon. That's when the Democrats began to retreat.
I remember volunteering for Fred Harris's campaign for the nomination in the year Jimmy Carter was elected. For those who don't remember him, he was an Oklahoma Senator who was the Paul Wellstone of his day -- at least politically.
Back then it was the same old crap. Democrats becoming more conservative. It brought us Jimmy Carter who was a total disaster as a president. (It's true he is much better as an ex-president, but it was really awful when he was in the WH.)
And in the 80's and 90's it just got worse. Democrats did everythiong possible to distance themselves from Blacks, the poor, gays....anyone who the right wing tried to turn Middle America against. The Democrats were afraid back then too.
And, the Democrats stood idly by and watched as Corporate Power and Accountant Morality took over our economy and our social values. No fight, as mergers turned into mega mergers, economic rules were tossed out, and average working people got a bigger and bigger shaft.
I've bounced back from all those disappointments and defeats, and I guess I'll bounce back from this one too.
But, as the old saying goes: "Patience, my ass!"

Yes there are still democratic Democrats out there.
But FUCK THE DLC. FUCK THE DEMOCRATS WHO SOLD US OUT (AGAIN) TODAY.
Patience my ass. George Bush was just the logical outcome of our own cumulative blunders and sell outs of the last 30 years.

I never voted for Clinton, nor Gore. I knew all along. Brown, Nader, Nader. I voted for Kerry, but I didn't give $ to him. And after he sat on $15 Million instead of going all-out for Ohio...etc etc etc I'm glad I gave to Dean and held.
