INCOMING! The return of "Mean Jean" Schmidt (R-OH)
Republican Rep. Jean Schmidt, known for calling a Democratic lawmaker a coward, clinched re-election Tuesday when additional ballot counts were released two weeks after the election.

Results from heavily Republican Warren County in southwest Ohio's 2nd District added to Schmidt's lead, giving her an insurmountable edge of about 3,200 votes over Democratic challenger Victoria Wulsin.

Schmidt had 51 percent of the vote compared with 49 percent for Wulsin, according to unofficial results.

The race was one of a handful that had remained unresolved across the country since Election Day when the Democrats took control of Congress. One other House race in central Ohio between Republican Rep. Deborah Pryce and Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy remains undecided.

10. Are you talking about his Senate campaign or last year's House run?
He had clinched the Democratic nomination in 2005 for the House run.

6. i think you're right. people are paying attention now.
before she was "Jean WHo?"
then she had her crazy, mean-spirited outburst that marks her for life as a hateful lunatic.
there will be an armada of activists on her scrawny tail next time.

7. Nothing in this article indicates final election results
I know they are still counting votes in several counties and election results have not been certified in at least the 2d and 15th Ohio Congressional Districts. As of now all of this is still speculation by the media and nothing is official. Mean Jean and Little Debbie may win after all, but as of now things are still up in the air.

As far as Hackett goes, the reason he gave for not running for Congress after he left the Senate race was that he promised some people in the 2d district that he would not run for that seat if he left the Senate race. I have no reason to think this is not true, but in any case it is unfortunate that he did not run again as I think he could have won.
