Did Reid's anti-choice stance play a part in the filibuster failure?

Sorry, anti-choicers. It needs to be asked.

Has anyone else had this thought?

Did he purposely NOT rally the votes so the filibuster would fail? If someone is anti-choice, why would they want Roe v. Wade to be settled law? They SAY they support a woman's right to choose. They SAY they respect the Constitution, but do they really? Reid didn't want the filibuster but supported it...relunctantly.

We will never know what went down behind the doors on Capitol Hill today. For all I know, Reid was sitting at his desk rallying votes to vote yes on cloture while Kerry and Kennedy were giving their passionate floor speeches today.. It's not a stretch, in my mind, but I've had an awful lot of bad thoughts about the Dem party tonight. Anything is possible these days. Has anyone else had this same thought?

This IS a legitimate and FAIR question.

Flame away! I'm suited up.

1. That was my thought. Reid absolutely obstructed this. He NEVER supported t
the filibuster because it wasn't his idea. I don't know if being anti choice played a part but it is interesting that the filibuster effort was led by a pro choice Dem Kerry. Food for thought.I haven't liked Reid since he voted for the Bankruptsy Act. What kind of Democratic values are these? Anti Choice and pro Bankruptsy Bill? I don't get it. Why is he Minority Leader?

2. I'm with you--
I don't get how he's dem, progressive or minority leader. He showed some balls this past year with what he did on the senate floor that day, but I don't know about this guy anymore.

3. Reid is NOT progressive
He voted for the bankruptcy bill, which should prove that he puts corporate interests above the little guy. I don't think you're remiss in being suspicious of his motives here. It's clear he doesn't care for the liberal wing of the caucus - the Kerrys, Kennedys, and Boxers.
