Is the media about to start going easier on Al Gore?
I just saw a commercial for Hardball on MSNBC. It was from an interview between Matthews and Gore from 2002. They showcased Gore's wit and humor.

Tweety: "Are you you upset that you aren't president? What does your gut tell you?"

Gore: "Well, I haven't polled my gut lately:

Tweety "Okay, what's the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? It's the crack of dawn and you first become Al Gore. Do you want to be president?"

Gore: "Actually, I'm Al Gore when I'm asleep, too."

That's about all there was to the commercial. I'm so used to hearing that Gore is boring and stiff. They show him being funny. It was great. Do you think they might be ready to show his other side?

1. Gore is probably the most eminently-qualified man to be President in the past 40 years,
and this scares the shit out of the corporate masters and their media minions. Showing Gore's very warm and funny side will be a bitter pill for them, but the truth will eventually force them to do it.

5. Maybe even the whores are starting to realize
that a competent adult needs to take over and clean up *'s colossal mess. Gore is the best person for the job, imo.

6. Think of Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.
They're being nicer to Al because they're waiting to see if he can be lured into running. Then, BAM!

That's my perception, anyway. I do think Al has changed his narrative somewhat, and that helps him with the media. In 2000, the narrative was "Al Gore has always wanted to be president. He'll say anything." Now, running Current and being on the Apple board and associated with Google, becoming a film star and global warming advocate, some of the old scripts don't quite fit anymore. Al is actually... cool.

But trust the media to invent new scripts to replace the old ones. They'll say Al doesn't practice what he preaches because he flies around on jets. They'll say he's a desperate man who just can't let go of the past.

I still think Al could run and win in 2008. It'll be a tough fight if McCain is the nominee, simply because the press loves McCain and can't say a bad word about him. But I also think McCain is still going to be tainted by Bush. All Republicans will. And Gore can ride the wave of American voters who want to restore the America we had during Clinton. They'll want to erase this whole sorry Bush regime from history, and voting for Gore will be a good way to do that.

So I think he can win. But it'll be in spite of the media, not because of it.

7. They should be nice to him and/or any Democrat

but until there are changes in the GOP owned/controlled broadcast media, (getting rid of the Fairness Doctrine?) they will continue to repeat the spin that "the Democrats don't have a plan."

If anyone thinks the corporate media will go easy on anyone except the Democrats that they love to hate are in for a rude awakening.

And I am a Gore fan, seriously.
