In my area of Los Angeles, we have a strong, united, very liberal Democratic Club. We endorse liberal candidates, and we win elections. Our wonderful mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa is from our area. Our Congressman, Becerra is one of the best. Boxer spoke live to a large crowd at our campaign headquarters during her campaign in 2004. Please note that both the Senators from California, Feinstein, in spite of her conservative stance on many issues, and Boxer ultimately supported the filibuster. That is because they know that I am active, I am a member of the Democratic Party (a delegate to the state convention no less) as are my friends in the Democratic Club. We are vigilant and they know they answer ultimately to us (not just me of course). If you are not an active member of your local Democratic Club or Party, stop squawking. Join up and get active. Meet the Democratic politicians in your area and let them know where you stand. Mind you, I don't have money, and neither do my neighbors. But I've got feet and I'm not above standing a few hours in the hot sun to talk to voters. That kind of contact can't be bought by all the lobbyists in the world. Don't give up. Take the power. Take the responsibility. Get active.
