The Republicans spent years as the minority party, but they fought and clawed and persevered after decades of being beaten.

The fight is what makes a party strong and vibrant. It's the fight that draws a party together and strenghtens the bonds. Going down swinging wins you respect and will draw people to your side.

"Whether we get our demand met or not...the fight is what is important, This is about dignity and respect, and we already won by fighting."

--Shirley Armstrong

The Democratic party does not understand this principle, and this is why Republicans will hold the majority in both houses in '06 and '08.

2. Yup, I agree
I hope the past few days are the beginning of a change in party TACTICS.

Voters are sick to death of weak candidates who don't take clear positions, and who don't fight for what they believe in. Any Senators who can't use this No vote to their advantage at the polls are tone-deaf.

4. And add 'idiots' to that list...
I mean, what more do they want?!
Bush only has a 39% approval rating... The majority of us want his can impeached on NSA wiretapping...
CBS had a poll that showed Americans were strongly opposed to the 'nuke-u-lar option'...
The majority of Americans support pro-choice platforms...

It boggles my mind why they caved today...

3. We won't begin to win until we begin to fight.
In order for the American people to trust the Dems to be the ruling party, they will have to see a party that actually stands for something and is willing to fight for it.

The longer that we wait for a fight we can "win", the less likely that such a fight is ever going to show up. The Republicans created their own opportunities to look like fighters when they were out of power. Dems need to do the same, or they will never be in power again.
