You will have to pry my Dem Party card out of my cold dead hands
I will work to get more progressive Dems into House and Senate seats. Failing that, a Dem butt is still better than a Republican one.

Just make sure, if you leave the party, that you continue working and being an activist. And if you work against a DINO, you damn well better make sure you don't lose the seat to a Republican, or I will be quite miffed.

I'm only a year old, Party-wise. I just got here. I ain't leavin'. This is STILL the best vantage point from which to have at the GOP.

We've heard who is leaving.

So... who is staying?

1. I know how an abused spouse feels
Seriously!!!

That's all I can say at this point. It's like trying to change a marriage that is already soured by abuse and infidelity from within. Sometimes you just have to love yourself and do the right thing.

This party needs a nice blackeye from its base that it has no shame in abusing.

2. You forget, I am a Kerry fan
I feel no abuse from him. I feel only pride. His campaign inspired me to become a Dem in the first place.

3. Sometimes you do
You just have to stop focusing all your attention and anger on the abuser, stop fighting with him, and start living your own life under your own rules. But guess what, you can do that without getting a divorce. And when you do that, the marriage usually changes. Either he leaves you, or he gets well.

I've got no shame in staying in the Democratic Party and continuing to promote positive movement forward.

34. Who is abusing you? The Democrats? Are you nuts?
You've been taking it in the face every day from the President and the Republicans, and they're the ones who call you useless and say you're too worthless to do the dishes and mop the floor right. They're the ones who come home from a day taking bribes at the office to slap you around by taxing you unfairly and running up your credit card. They're the ones slapping your kids around in places like Iraq for no better reason than to show the neighbors how macho they are.

The Democratic Party is your mother, who is trying to get your Republican husband to stop hitting you, and you are the one telling her what an interfering bitch she is.

Wake up.

*I* am staying, LittleClarkie. Right here with ya.

Abandoning the Democratic party makes about as much as sense as denouncing one's American citizenship. Yes, over half of the country seems to be evil or stupid or both much of the time, but I'll be damned if I'm going to bow out and let them have it. I will keep fighting for what I believe in.

This fight started during the 1990s when Clinton endured the RW conspiracy jihad.

I'm in this for the long haul because I want to full savor the "what" - when "what" goes around comes around.

And it's coming around.

11. You sound a lot like my republican colleagues
Seriously, supporting the democratic party regardless of how many times they screw you over and lie to you. Its the same red team - blue team garbage I hear from right wingers when they explain their love and support for Tom Delay and George Bush. I tell them to look for a candidate in any party that supports their values and vote for him. Dont look for a team and then vote for that candidate.

There are maybe 10 or 15 democratic senators worth their weight in urine. The rest are in bed with the same corrupt garbage as the republicans.

For example, when they run Hillary Clinton in 2008 and you vote for her because she is blue. You have no right to bitch about her continuing the war. Or in more blunt terms, when dad is beating the crap out of his kid, and moms turns her back on it for years. Is mom really any better than dad? Either way, the kids still screwed.

I for one have learned from my mistakes over the last few years. I will never again vote for any candidate that does not support my values. And if that means a third party, then so be it. I will not compromise my values any more.

If there is a god in the heavens, Russ Feingold in 2008!!!

16. Staying where?
I am not selling a plane ticket out of the democratic party. What I am saying is look at your particular values. Then look at your particular candidates from the local cashier's assistant all the way up to president. Then ask yourself if that candidate agrees with you.

If you ever answer no, but still vote yes. Then you are compromising your values and you will lose (actually all of us liberals will lose).

This, of course, varies widely depending on your area and your particular candidates. Most of the good candidates will be democrats.

But wait, before you say how firm your values are and yada yada. Watch Leiberman get re-elected this november. Just watch. You know its going to happen. He is technically on the blue team so he will be re-elected even though he doesnt have a liberal bone in his body. The end result is that you have one more blue senator in congress. But what does that get you? He still is voting on the red side so whats the difference?

Not me, I dont care if your from the southern secession party. I will only vote for you if you agree with my values.

For even such a sleaze ball as Alieto. Go figure. Lick our wounds and go out and wound them next time. I believe Clinton will be considered a pivotal and possibly great president in the coming decades. HOwever his problems hurt the Dem's and this is one of the cases of fallout from them. I also believe that things will get better. Heck, there is talk in the press that the Dem's have, at least a chance, of gaining control of Congress this year. I will keep the faith, for a while. Heck, I liked the Mets in the early 1960's!

I think in most states you have to be a registered Democrat to vote in the primary, even if you register at the polling place. Why would someone not want to give themselves that option?

The party of the 19?

Not a chance.

The Party that needs to rebuilt from the ground up?

Yep, I'm in that.

But don't be surprised at all if when we put the new seeds in the ground some come up Green. That is just fine.

The key word is progressive, not party.

25. DINOs stole our party
WE HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK!

There is nothing wrong with the democratic party. WE are the democratic party. We are the party of beautiful souls like JFK, RFK, MLK!! We have to force our democratic 'representatives' to do their jobs or fire them. Simple. (except for the voting machines)

There seems to be alot of divide and conquer tactics going on in the democratic party lately. If people would like to leave for a third party, the best course of action would be to push for instant run-off voting, so that we are all able to vote our hearts first, but not hand the elections to the republicans.

The Democratic Party is the party of the ordinary people working for a living. The people who aren't rich and who are willing to live and let live.

We're the party of peaceful coexistence, freedom and justice.

But like T&L said upthread, I will vote for issues & individuals. I do not agree with you that a "D" filling a seat is necessarilly better than an "r". It actually *does* hurts us when a "D" votes "r" on hot button issues, because those are the talking points & images that get thrown like red meat to the uninformed masses of potential voters.
