SOTU 2007: Stand in Silence, Together
I had planned to post the following request on 4 January 2007.

However, given that Speaker-elect Pelosi has astutely and appropriately declared that the 110th US Congress will remain in session for the duration of the interval spanning commencement of the session until the State-of-the-Union (SOTU) address, I am posting it now.

I ask that each of you communicate with, and, if possible, visit your Congressional Representative and your US Senators during the holiday period.

The request I ask you to make is simple:

Every Senator and Representative Stand in Silence, Together, from the moment Bush enters until after he departs his 2007 SOTU.

Similarly, I request that every American citizen Stand in Silence, Together for the duration of SOTU 2007.

The request is made to indicate to all those whom have died needlessly since March, 2003, that they are more than remembered, they are honored and mourned, collectively, by America.

The request is made to indicate to all those whom have been maimed needlessly since March, 2003 , that they are more than remembered, they are honored and informed by America that they will receive priority care.

The request is made to indicate to all those families who have suffered the extraordinary pain of the loss or of the harm of one whom they love that America will strive to comfort them, meaningfully, and, most importantly will commit to never again causing needless loss and suffering to the parents and the children and the relatives of those who honorably serve.

The request is made to indicate to the entire world that “We the People …” apologize for the colossal crimes of Bush, Cheney and their neoconster minions and corporate enablers.

The request is made to provide each of us a moment of collective focus on what we now must do to rectify and prevent any future action by Our Government even remotely comparable to the horrors of the past six years.

It Is Our Responsibility, my fellow Americans, and by Standing in Silence, Together during SOTU’07 we can reinstate our solidarity of conscience and set a precedence for what the message that must be passed from generation to generation in order for America to be all that its founding vision, and all that those whom have dedicated their lives, will emerge from the darkness Bush has cast, and persist in the light of truth and lawful conduct.

Thank you,
Bob

3. No. Nothing like it has ever happened. And, it is not just that We "stand" ...
... it's that "We the People ..." including Our represenatives in the Congress, remain Silent, the entire time Bush is in Our Congress.

Thank you for your comment,
Bob

4. Kind of a "V" action. I get it.
Could be profoundly moving.

But thus far our new leadership has treated these master criminals so gingerly I don't have much hope that they would dare to do anything like that--something Faux News & brethren might sneer at. They don't intend a revolution, and their membership seems quite crafted to prevent one, and they just don't seem to feel the disaster of this junta as we do. A "stand" would mean that they mean business. Do they?

5. "A "stand" would mean that they mean business." Yes. And, it would ....
... be an exceptional tribute to all "the fallen" - all those whose lives have perished because of the lies and the crimes.

A "V" action requiring no costume - for either Our representatives or us.

Thank you,
Bob

7. I like that - SIS '07 - great for T-shirts and bumper stickers! I hope Ava and Jeffersons Ghost ...
... and other creative DUers and others decide to drive the meme of Stand In Silence, Together via their multimedia video talent.

Peace,
Bob

8. SIS would be a love letter to the American people from their Congress.
I'll be watching my mailbox for that missive.

SIS would also serve to reassure us that modern science has done it again -- spinal regeneration is finally possible after the most severe kind of injury to that area of the body politic.

After the death of Princess Diana, the British people sent a message to the Queen: "Show us you care, Mum." We the People wait breathlessly to hear from our elected representatives: Show us you care!

10. It won't happen.
Our idiots will cheer and applaud every jingoistic phrase the liar utters. They should be wagging a blue finger in his mug and booing at every opportunity.

13. It will happen if We Do It and Insist that Our Employees Do It, as well.
They work for Us.

It's about time "We the People ..." get in the habit of reminding them of that, every day.

Thank you for your comments,
Bob

14. While I support your enthusiasm
I regret to inform you that our party is nearly as corrupt as the party we just tossed out of power. If you know of a way that we can actually force 'our employees' to do anything other than what their corrupt leadership tells them to do, you let me know. How exactly do we insist that they act this way?

15. "How exactly do we insist that they act this way?" -- For starters, ...
.... by having every person, from every District who voted for one of them call them, repeatedly; go to their local offices and request to meet with THEIR Rep and THEIR Senator to inform them of what they are expected to do.

That's what I'll be doing through the holiday recess.

1000s of citizens visiting their local offices will be a novel experience for both the citizens and THEIR employees (staff as much as Rep/Senator).
