Alito will be confirmed in the senate" said Harry Smith on CBS news this morning. Just now, before Steph Miller's show started, on the CBS radio news report a similar sentiment was expressed.
do they know something we don't?
anyone else catch this? Any chance of enough NO votes to stop confirmation?

Unless certain folks are lying about their declared voting intention

5. CNN actually had similar cautious statements |
|
Miles actually mentioned some possible surprises could still happen today, that the democrats might have something up their sleeves, but we'll see. I was kinda stunned to hear that. Made my ears perk up. But I think it's bullshit.

- any "snag" would have to come from the republican senators. Today is a simple majority vote. They only need 51 votes and there are 55 repug senators.
BUT, just because someone voted for cloture does not mean that they will vote for confirmation. They are two very different things. There will be more no votes today than yesterday, IMO.
Will 5 republican's vote NO to confirmation? I just don't see it happening.

For some reason, maybe to build tension so people will watch all day, they seem to be pushing this notion that something could happen.

12. I think they are just trying to add a bit of suspence |
|
so people will actually tune in and watch. They don't like it when the outcome is this cut-and-dry.
