1. I know I probably shouldn't
but what's up in that 3rd picture? A STRAPLESS dress at a funeral? I don't care if it's black, that's just really, really tacky.

2. To paraphrase SecDef Donald Rumsfeld,
"As you know, you have to go to a funeral with the black dress you have, not the black dress you want."

Not everybody can afford a new black dress.

4. But you could come up with a jacket, a sweater
a shawl...something that would be a little more appropriate for the time and place.

5. When your turn comes, go for it. I will applaud your good taste.
It appears as though a close sibling to that woman was killed.

So I don't care if she's wearing "Wassup?" panties to the funeral. The world has been ripped out from under her.

7. It is TRULY tacky for people to criticize that poor woman for what
she is wearing. Utterly disgusting to see such a stupid comment on DU.

Heartless. And this is NOT a matter of "PC", just common decency.

I agreee with your comment.

8. It just doesn't seem respectful of the occasion.

11. You need to check your humanity #1 before you criticize ANYBODY.
Your stupid comment about this grief-stricken woman makes it clear you have NO CLUE what it feels like to lose a loved one.

13. Another perspective
It could be a dress she wore for a happy occasion she spent with the deceased & she wanted the comfort of that memory on such a sad day. That dress & pearls looks like something she may have worn for a military ball or a H.S. prom.

9. If it was up to me, I would have the President, VP
the SecDef and members of congress be required to hand over those folded flags at funerals, make them look into the eyes of those relatives of the those who died in Iraq and explain to them about sacrifice. I would suspect many politicians would not be so hot to trot to go to war, after that expireience

10. That's an excellent idea, Mike.
FORCE them to come out of hiding, to face the real, heartbreaking results of what they have done.
