15 Dems have PROVEN THEIR UNWORTHINESS to represent
The 15 dems who voted against the filibuster and against Alito are EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH THE PARTY. We do not need people like this that refuse to represent their constituency. Some political enthusiasts or activists who defend these people would say that the average American doesn't understand filibustering. What the average American doesn't understand are wishy-washy stances like these 15 dems held.

Average Americans don't understand how you can vote for a war but not support the troops
Average Americans don't understand how you can be pro-life but against legislating it
Average Americans don't understand how you can allow a vote to proceed on a nominee if you say you don't believe the nominee should be a justice but have the power to block it.

This is why our party is suffering.

Average Americans don't understand how dems like these 15 represent them.

5. A list of the traitors in the Alito vote, and an effort to unseat them
Can be found at http://cnx.com/remember

We're going to build a PAC to help recruit and fund primary opponents to those candidates.

There are links to two of the opponents already, Ned Lamont (running against Lieberman) and Mark Wilson (running against Cantwell) already up there for those who want to help them before we get the PAC off the ground. As sites go up for Rick Chapman (running against Nelson in Florida) and other opponents, we will add them, too.

Come join the fight to take our party back.

11. I don't agree with this list completely
Those Democrats who voted against a filibuster and for Alito are AT LEAST consistent. These are the red-state Dems and they need to do what they need to do to represent thier constituency. I believe they were truly voting for them.

It's the 15 dems who voted against a filibuster and against Alito who are playing games with their votes and thier constituency.

I won't join that cause unless the three red-state dems are removed.

14. I agree and it sounds like Ed Schultz does too
Yesterday he called the Alito 15 "Turncoat Dems" and said many dems would remember it as one of the most "shameful days in American history."

But he also defended Dorgan saying he was representing his constituents who may be populist on some issues but against abortion.

Of course I can sympathize because I don't like abortion, but I'm not a woman and I don't believe in criminalizing abortion or any other private matters.

15. That Ed Schultz is defending one of them
helps convince me we're on the right track. Ed is worse than a DINO. He's DFP: Democrat For Pay.

19. Good point. A 'yes' on cloture and a 'no' on final are illogical.
It was the one opportunity that Senate Dems had to pull together on the need for more discussion on this nominee.

We now know who must have some friendly opposition at the polls.

2. If one assumes they just aren't stupid then you have to question
the motives of anyone in the minority wouldn't go for a procedure that was designed hundreds of years ago just for use by the minority.

3. Names, Please
They need their names plastered everywhere, in bright neon.

And we need to vote in primaries AGAINST them. We need to get the word out that, by failing to block Alito, they, in fact, supported him. We had the numbers to block him. solid support from the base said to block him. These 15 chose not to.

It is time for us, the base...to choose not to return these 15 to office.

23. I See A Pattern....
Those who betrayed us are among the lowest in voting with us. Also, most of the betrayers are DLC (big surprise!!) AND...most of those scoring low on voting with us are, guess what??? DLC!!! Big fucking surprise!!

Goddam I hate the fucking DLC!!

I wonder, if we could take the average of voting with us among all Dems...and the average of voting with us among non-DLC only Dems...and then the average of DLC-only Dems voting with us, so we could see the figures side by side.

I'm gonna work on this, be back to post the results later.

I want it crystal-clear to everyone here...THE DLC IS NOT ON OUR SIDE!!!

26. Okayyyy, Here's The Results....PQ (Progressive Quotient) DLC vs. non-DLC
I used the numbers given. All bolded names were counted as BETRAYERS for the purposes of one aspect of my number-crunching...even though the four that were noted are included in the BOLDS. Even if consistent, they still betrayed us, and they still are not representative of REAL PROGRESSIVES.

Here's the results....

Non-DLC Vote With Us Average - 66.7102
Non-DLC Vote With Us Median - 71.4

DLC Vote With Us Average - 39.4789
DLC Vote With Us Median - 39.3

Overall Democrat Vote With Us Average - 54.9523
Overall Democrat Vote With Us Median - 60.7 (Clinton)

BETRAYERS Vote With Us Average - 37.0369
BETRAYERS Vote With Us Median - 39.3 (Baucus)

Of 44 Senators, here is our breakdown....

# of BETRAYERS also DLC = 14
# of BETRAYERS non-DLC = 5

# of non-betrayers also DLC = 5
# of non-betrayers also non-DLC = 20

How much clearer does it need to be that the DLC is NOT our friends, they are NOT REAL PROGRESSIVES, and they must be shoved out the door?

I dunno about the rest of you, but this is pretty much proof positive that the DLC does not measure up in terms of PQ (Progressive Quotient.)
