I watched all of you
With great interest and prayers as you all worked your hearts out to filibuster Alito.
As an outsider several things come to mind to let you guys know.....
1. your activism and hard work and efforts DID make a difference. I understand your anger at the sellouts. It is warrented. You deserve to be angry. BUT - you succeeded at the very least in standing up and drawing a line in the sand. You were heard.
2. Now you know who works for you and who does not.
3. No one ever said turning the tide would be easy.....every social wrong to be corrected took small steps, determination and an iron will. You must be prepared to be castigated, villified, outcast and ridiculed. It is all part of the process. You have taken the first steps towards accountability of your elected officials. Keep it up. Don't give in. The democratic party is yours. It is within your power to change it for the better - but it won't come quickly and it won't be easy.

I applaud each and every one of you. Well done. The more involved you become - the harder it is for polticians to blithely go about their day without regard to those who put them into power in the first place.

The revolution has begun. You may not recognize it yet. Now - even more than ever it is critical that you keep up your efforts.

Without your stand - Alito would of had cloture from all the senators. It did make a difference. your polticians have been served notice that YOU are paying attention. A healthy democracy is one that has an active populuce. Don't roll over now. Empower everyone you know. The war is not lost - only one small battle....and if you are loud enough, rational enough, your power will tie Alito's hands from making the radical changes in the supreme court that you are all worried about. He cannot make law.

There are dark days ahead for America. difficult days. Now is not the time to disconnect yourselves from the political process. Instead it IS the time to plug everyone you know to make sure that your politicians speak for you, work for you, embrace your ideals. Turn up the volume - tune out the naysayers and the enablers - and get it done.

I am so very proud of each and every one of you.

14. And we're no longer
"the looney extreme left" either. They know where they have to go. I believe it was Mark Crispin Miller on an interview I heard with him (I think the Young Turks or Majority Report) where he said they believe they have to go to the middle because of this whole "rightwing" base but he says it's non-existance (and I agree) so maybe now after this they're seeing that too.

12. Now is the time
I think the pendulum will now swing back to the left. Those on the far right, are now fat and happy, and have nothing more to gain. Those on the left have nothing more to lose. Those in the middle will begin to see the shift to the right and get uncomfortable.

It seems the key would be to get more of those in the middle to the left.

Every person who did even the least little thing, like a petition or Email, helped too. They did hear us and they know that come 2006 if they were on the wrong side they better watch out. I do think too this is our revolution. We've been beaten up on, ignored, etc. for far too long. It's time to say "enough!" As Mike Malloy said last night it's time to organize!
What's really amazing is how WE were all organized and working together for a common goal. It was pretty something.

17. I agree with whosinpower.
We did have a victory, not a total victory but a small one.

How many Senators changed his or her mind after receiving huge numbers of phone calls, faxes and emails. We have go forward and built on this, not have a giant pity party.

I am going to send weekly emails to all the Democrat Senators letting them know I am still here, we need to make these Senators know we are not going away.

I don't know how many here listen to Mike Malloy but last night he said we need to start working on the city, county, and state level. I have been doing this for a long time, one way to do this is to become a precinct judge. If enough of us do this we can control the county in which me live. This can grow, it will take time but the republicans are helping us with the way they are destroying the country. We need to be there when the sleeping people of American wake up.

Tonight I am going to protest the SOTU speech and not stop working because I don't want to live in Bush's version of America.
