Gandhi: "When I despair, I remember that...
When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall.

Think of it...

always.

-Mahatma Gandhi

In the wake of not only Scalito's confirmation but also the passing of Coretta Scott King, I want all of us on DU to take comfort in Gandhi's words.

1. Yeah, and then they assassinate you...
sorry but that's the history of the world. Meanwhile, jackass Republicans live forever.

2. But Ghandi didn't say everyone would live to see the tyrants fall.
He sure didn't say look for things to turn around quickly or on their own.

3. Big fucking deal.
Hitler's gone, yes. So are over 6 million jews and hundreds of millions more through warfare. I'm sure Ghandi's speech provides them comfort :eyes:

6. Nope.
I concede that I agree with it, but I think it's a chickenshit approach to dealing with life. Yes, the tryants will fall eventually, but they can do incredible amounts of damage to the world, populations, and progress before they do. F that action.

5. I always take comfort
from his words. We have to realize that we may be the ones who will live under this oppression but it is we who have been chosen by this particular time to fight it. We do not want to have to be the ones but we must. We had it good for a long time now we must try to restore our system for the next generations.---told to me by my husbands cousin

I did not want to have to do this again, I am sick and tired of it but here we are so we must.

Retirement does not always mean that everyday is a Saturday.

7. IOW, we're on the winning side of the war
bespite the fact that in this particular battle, we're fucked.
