This thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=279471&mesg_id=279471 serves as a reminder as to just how difficult -- no make that impossible -- it is for politicians to maneuver on our side of the playing field. Those who did not stand up have been labeled as spineless sellouts, but those who did stand up are labeled opportunists.

We are an unappeasable lot.

4. I'm with you on this. Kerry took a stand that was tough to take.
He stuck his neck out only to fall short and have to live with another bad Bush appointment- this time for a lifetime.

Kerry did this for us- those who want to bash- I say- get over it, you guy lost and the best man won. Your envy is showing.

5. That poster almost always disparages progressive ideals
I wouldn't take it too seriously. He's pretty much a poster boy for centrist triangulation, and we ALL know how the DLC felt about Kerry's filibuster.

7. Sorry but the "Kerry filibuster opportunist" meme
is a rethuglican media talking point. Its regurgitation here is a symptom of either idiocy or deliberate wrecking.
