3. No I don't think so
Byrd, Ben Nelson, and Conrad declared that they were voting aye on Alito... Dorgan may have been the fourth.

Statement from Senator Tim Johnson (DINO,SD)
Washington, DC—U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) released the following statement about the Senate confirmation of Judge Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court:

"Alito's approval by the U.S. Senate today allows this chamber to move past this divisive period and on to other issues, such as balancing the budget, providing health care and quality education, enhancing job creation, and firming up our national defense.

"This was a solemn occasion. It is essential to our democracy that the Supreme Court continues to remain independent and protect the system of checks and balances. I wish Judge Alito and his family well as they enter this new phase."

What's next? Public ass-kissing?

:puke:

10. Except for one minor detail...
Alito's already on record that he himself doesn't believe in checks and balances.

14. Byrd, Conrad and Nelson are running in 2006.
Anyone know who (if anyone) is running against them in the primaries?

I've got a nice healthy check for them when I find out who they are. I'm all for making this VERY painful for the 19 turncoats. Time we let them know what happens when they turn their back on their constituency, their principles, and their nation.

Even if we can't get them off the ticket, we can make the primaries difficult and expensive for them, so maybe they'll think twice before ditching the folks who brung 'em to the dance.

11.  I criticised Byrd for his KKK connections here on DU about
a week ago and was criticised because it was so long ago that he was a member.
