Scotty: The speech currently stands at Draft No. 23

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/StateOfTheUnion/story?id=1560946

<snip>

Bush spent about 90 minutes Monday working on his speech, and spokesman Scott McClellan said he rehearsed following the Cabinet meeting.

McClellan said the president typically did not do a run-through of the speech on the day he would deliver it, so Monday was likely the final formal rehearsal.

The president worked on the speech for the last two weekends. A week ago, he was joined at Camp David by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, and a White House official said he worked on the speech during that time.

The speech currently stands at Draft No. 23, but McClellan was quick to point out that even a one-word change resulted in another draft. The speech is about 36 minutes in length without applause right now. Factoring in those interruptions, the speech should be comparable in length to last year's address, which ran 53 minutes.

1. I will not be watching.
I can not even hear his voice anymore. If he comes on while I am watching the news, I have to hurry up and mute the t.v. Then everyone in my house looks at his ugly face and flips him "the bird". It makes us feel better! We yell f.u. George. F.U.

7. By the time he's done, he's going to run out of colors.
Maybe he'll read the version he wrote with the white one.

3. And in the spirit of the famous 16 'Saddam's uranium from Africa ...
bla bla bla '.... words of an SOTU past ... wonder how many words he'll use tonight to work this LBN into his speech tonight? This ... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2076957

If he works it in, I'd say 15 words or less. By draft #25 the one he goes with. :crazy: Peace.

Or as many as possible anyway.

8. I heard on the radio it was draft 31 now.
they must be changing a lot of us and them's into them and us's instead.

Sheesh, he has enough trouble with one that they don't rewrite, imagine how he is going to bungle one that they have changed so often!
