yet ANOTHER reason why I LOVE San Francisco!!!!!
:bounce::bounce::bounce:

San Francisco:
5pm Rally at Union Square

6pm Bring the Noise. Drown Out Bush's Lies.

7pm Bush statue toppling (30 ft tall paper mache statue)

At 9:00 PM EST, just as Bush starts to speak, everywhere we will BRING THE NOISE. In a cacophony of sound, we will drown out his address with music

:bounce::bounce::bounce:

I walk right by Union Square on the way home from work... I can't WAIT to see this statue!!!!

anyone else going to be there?

at 5 p.m.

Check out http://worldcantwait.org for more info on local protests in your area.

7. Another reason to love SF - SF remains Bush free!
BUSH KEEPS S.F. AT BAY
President hasn't participated in 75-year tradition of visiting city -- and he has no plans to do so

Marc Sandalow, Washington Bureau Chief

Sunday, August 21, 2005

Washington -- Presidential visits to San Francisco have been a tradition since Rutherford Hayes lunched at the Cliff House in 1880.

Presidents arrived by stagecoach and jet. One was shot at. Another died. In all, 20 presidents have visited the city, including every chief executive for the past 75 years.

Except George W. Bush.

Now in the fifth year of his presidency, Bush has yet to set a foot in the city that was home to his childhood baseball idol, Willie Mays, and shows no inclination to do so. The White House is planning a California visit by the end of the month, and San Francisco is not on the itinerary.

11. Sam Spade trumps Bush any day
Bush Street always conjures up memories of The Maltese Falcon and the hard boiled detective, Sam Spade, in my mind

Where Bush Street roofed Stockton before slipping downhill to Chinatown, Spade paid his fare and left the taxicab. San Francisco's night-fog, thin, clammy, and penetrant, blurred the street.

Man, that's literature! ;)

19. You haven't finished your voyage until you make the pilgrimage to...
City Lights Bookstore, the epicenter of the universe. Jack and Lawrence were great friends. ;)

My Pops lived on Bush Street while attending law school. I only know this because one of my favorite keepsakes from my Pops' life was his well-worn copy of "Black's Law Dictionary" that had his 645 Bush Street address penciled in. Phone: Sutter 1-6345 LOL

my then-gf was a beat addict, and one of the first places we went to was CL

Somewhere this spring, I forget which museum, they have the original manuscript for "On the Road" on display- the one he wrote on one long-ass sheet of paper

we're gonna check that out VERY soon!

21. Looks like the scroll is parked in Indiana until 2007
After a few bids the scroll became the property of Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts football team. Mr. Irsay, a bit of a maverick who does not follow the norm, is a pop culture fan whose personal collection includes guitars once owned by Elvis Presley and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Mr. Irsay says that he will not lock the scroll away as it has been for all of these years. He states that it belongs to the people. For now, the scroll will be put on display at a museum in Indianapolis. However, Irsay has plans to eventually have the scroll tour around the country  (possibly in the year 2007, the 50th anniversary of when the book was published) for all literary fans to see.

17. tempting... oh so tempting....
aside from the "I wish I lived on Kerry St" signs in 2004, I've seen no other fun with the street name

but I DO think about it.. if only I had a step-ladder and a good idea :)

25. We need Doug, and a rider that says "Impeach"
Doug is 6'5". Is that tall enough? I'm going to check on our walk tonight.

Card stock, doubled and printed on both sides and some nice, fresh duct tape.

lol

24. that's 'cause we're consistent. only presidents are welcome, not puppets.
we'd like to continue our tradition, thank you very much. and sullying it with a fake president would only do injustice to this record.
