Lieberman's (email) response
to my faxes, phone calls, etc. regarding the filibuster:

"With respect to the filibuster vote, as you may know, I was a member of
the Senate "Gang of 14" that last year worked together to save the right
of Senators to filibuster judicial nominations. As part of that
agreement, I agreed to filibuster only in extraordinary circumstances. To
me, this situation did not meet this extraordinary circumstances standard."

My question -- if this wasn't an "extraordinary circumstance," than what is?

1. He needs to explain further
That's not an answer. It's a half assed half answer and his constituents deserve better.

2. The obvious response is that you have no choice but to conclude
that his judgment is seriously flawed, and you can no longer support him as your Senator, because he does not represent your interests.

4. If only Alito had slapped his wife around in the committee room
then we would have had Leibermans' vote.

I asked Robert Byrd the same question about a week ago and I still haven't gotten an answer.

8. Seriously
I think he'd have to literally rip up a copy of the Constitution during his hearing.

7. Extraordinary situation: Lieberman's head in a guillotine.
Maybe then the little jinx would cry for a filibuster. What he doesn't realize is that he's in the crosshairs of the Republican and the Democratic parties now. POS.

9. His reply reminds me of a scene from M.A.S.H.
when they try to get a new incubator.

Hawkeye and Trapper go to the slupply sargent at Kimpo.

Sargent: I have 3 incubators...

Hawkeye: Great! We need one...

Sargent: can't do...

Trapper: what???

Sargent(lieberman): you see if I give you one then I will only have two left.

I've yet to hear a definition of an "extraordinary circumstance".

13. So Mr. Lieberman
What will you be telling poor women in Connecticut when they no longer control their own bodies, when their uteruses and their contents are declared to be the property of the state? "Sorry"? Or, "if I only knew then what I know now"? You've had thousands of people shouting it in your insipid face for the last five years. You are either an extraordinarily dull student or willfully ignorant.

Next month, you and your Senate cohorts will be taking up the high crime of presidential violations of the Constitution. And you just seated the fifth vote on the Supreme Court to save Mr. Bush from prosecution for his crimes. What will you say to those to come when the imperial presidency morphs into a dictatorship? "Oops"?

Shame on you, Mr. Lieberman. Shame, shame, shame.
