"I'm not gonna pull our troops off the battlefield before the mission is complete."
I'm sorry...were these words spoken by the same man who said "Mission accomplished" more than 3-1/2 years ago?

1. My opinion...
He is desperately trying to create a legacy that will make him look good, or at least not make him look like what he is--the absolute worst president in history. I heard on AA radio this am that his staff has hired writers to try to make him look good. As for the war, I think that since he had stubbornly held his position for so long he can't say now that he made a mistake. I did not hear the numbers but that his library will cost an outrageous amount. I think it is pathetic.

4. Aha!
his staff has hired writers to try to make him look good.

That explains his use of the word "fomented" in his speech.

9. Kinda like Stalin when he had the artists change photos and
rewrite history?

His Legacy is documented for all to see....can't change it..he's stuck with it..

8. Like the mission accomplished
and the major combat operations in Iraq have ended. That mission? What a disingenuous pile of garbage this guy is.

12. All he is capable of is a one sentence explanation - a sound bite - a talking point
Unbelievable destruction & heartbreak & all he is capable of is a sound bite. I get sick to my stomach every time he spews forth his idiocy. WHAT IS THE MISSION? Tell us - elaborate please - We are listening - We want to know! What the hell is it?!!?

16. My God--Bush really *is* becoming like Hitler...
..."no retreat from Stalingrad"...this has a very unhappy historical ring to it. The "reality-based community" eventually caught up with Adolf...and God help us--it's going to with Bush, too...and the rest of us...:-(...

19. I am not being facetious here, but I think one of the big reasons
is that he's still having a pissing contest with his dad. Remember, Jebby was supposed to be President, not Junior. And Junior has failed at every single thing he has ever attempted (if any of you haven't done so already, I would highly recommend the book "Shrub" by Molly Ivins and Lou DuBose. It's about the years before he was selected President, and, I think, shows what kind of man he really is -- a failure).

He thinks that by saying something, that makes it so. He thinks that platitudes are the same thing as words of substance, conveying ideas of substance. Whatever is reality in his mind, he thinks that is reality for the rest of us.

He does not connect the dots between what he says yesterday to what he says today, or to what he will say tomorrow. Many of us have noted how disconnected he is, not only from reality, but from himself. He doesn't like being questioned, he doesn't like being challenged, he doesn't like being disagreed with, he doesn't like discrepancies pointed out to him, he does not like to put thought into anything, and he has contempt for those who do.

He expects us to put blind trust into him. If he says something, we are supposed to take that at face value, regardless of what we see going on around us. It's like that saying, "Who you gonna believe, me or your own lying eyes?" Junior, I will believe my "lying eyes" any day over what you say.

He would be laughable, were it not for the fact that, like it or not, he occupies the office of the POTUS. God help us all.

20. SeattleGirl, I read your post & think you might be right. He is nothing more than a sound bite.
There was a part of me that kept thinking that there must be something more - he is our President - there's something I'm not getting - your post sort of sums up my greatest fears - He's a F-ing sound bite - he is wearing no clothes - that's all there is. He's a F-ing cliche.

21. He IS a cliche, and the cliche is wearing quite thin.
Not only for us, but for people in his own party. While I can understand a person wanting someone from their party to be President, I cannot understand anyone supporting Bush in the things he has done.
