Church sign; "If Evolution were true |
|
mothers would have three arms."
On the yard sign at a local Methodist Church. I think they are competing with the former store front fundy church which now has a fine new large building.

"tautalym" can be translated into English as either "arm" or "finger." You have ten fingers. Therefore you do have ten tautalyms. The original theory of evolution is vindicated. (Kidding)

|
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 05:10 PM by Boojatta
They have created a version of evolution that says something like this: if an organism wants offspring to have some body structure, then that desire in the mind affects the DNA in the organism's sperm cells or egg cells.
Alternatively, their version of evolution says that helpful rather than merely random mutations arise. If it is helpful then it is supposed to arise.

|
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 05:26 PM by oneighty
Here it is extremely important that the grape varieties not be invaded by an undesirable variety.
I have been told that private grape vines are against agriculture law in this area. (I wanted to put a grape arbor in my yard)
Many if not all members of this church are one way or the other dependent upon a successful grape harvest and would not want their variety of grape to evolve into something different.
Same might be said for other hybrid crops grown in the area.

If the beings in the world are less ideal than would seem to be needed I don't seee how that's an arguement against evolution.

|
Malevolent design: A creator knew people would have an easier time of it with three arms, so he gave us two just to make our lives miserable.
Same goes for knees and backs that give out way before we'd like them to, and sinus cavities that rarely drain right.
Any god that created us has to be playing a cruel joke on us.

what do some people think evolution is, anyway?
if i saw that sign at a local church, i might be compelled to walk in and ask the priest/minister/preacher/? what the hell that means? and i would suggest that if creationism were true, and mothers need 3 arms, then why weren't mothers created so?
ack! that is just the silliest thing to put on a sign! and, truth is, if i saw it, i wouldn't do anything but laugh - because really, what else can ya do? ;-)
