we'd just be spending all our time fighting those crazy right wing congressional investigations into things like whether or not he really was the inspiration for that love story character.

7. Considering that it was started as a reaction to the outcome...

it wouldn't seem likely that it would exist were that outcome different.

8. It Would Be Logical To Assume It Wouldn't Have.
Though only Skinner and the other founders can say for certain, I'm fairly confident that the SC/Election debacle of 2000 was the dominating motivation for the DU concept.

11. because the theft of the election was one of the main reasons they started the site...
So--- I thought if he did take office, would they have started the site?

10. Who cares?
When he wins in '08 again, we'll have him as President AND DU will still be around. Why, I do daresay that it's the best of both worlds!

What? Me? Thinking wishfully? Nooooo! Never!

12. Yes.
Gore won. DU seems to have resulted from the theft of the presidency.

13. We'd have a whole different set of complaints
But we'd still find plenty to complain about.

14. No
I remember coming here right after the stolen election. The reason (if I remember correctly) that Skinner gave was that DU was developed as a place for all Democrats who were heart broken and scared for our country. So, if the election in 2000 was not stolen, I am betting that DU would not exist in its current form.

Of course, Skinner is the man to ask about this.

16. No
Gore's "loss" in 2000 was the raison d'etre for DU. Without it, maybe Skinner et al tries to start a site, but no way does it catch fire the way DU did. DU exists today because of angry Democrats who rebelled after the 2000 selection.
