New neocon propaganda term: DEFUNDING THE TROOPS
On Scarborough last night, I heard this term over and over again, to refer to the Democrat's power of the purse, when they take over in January. Over and over again, instead of referring to putting the funding for the Iraq War back in the budget, instead of using supplemental appropriations, the Repugs were calling this "defunding the troops."

It's comical, kind of; you can tell when they're trying to change the language, because they repeat the same phrase over and over again with emphasis: DEFUNDING THE TROOPS, DEFUNDING THE TROOPS, DEFUNDING THE TROOPS. They start out with what they feel is subtlety, I guess, and talk about the power of the purse, then it's DEFUNDING THE WAR IN IRAQ, then it's DEFUNDING THE TROOPS. Once they hit their target propaganda term, they repeat it over and over and over again.

2. Is this a surprise to ANYONE?
Hell, I knew it was coming. I just hope someone among the Dems has been thinking pre-emptively and trots out the counter-meme FAST and spreads it all over everywhere. I am SO sick and tired of these maroons and their war of words on reality.

wearily,
Bright

3. What does one define the cut backs the GOP did to the VA
A no better definition of Defunding the troops there. As a matter of fact let's defund the the troops in Iraq and then restore them here and the VA also.

4. This shouldn't surprise anybody
Insofar as the Congress actually has the power to stop the war in Iraq it's by cutting the purse strings - doing so, however, is a gamble, as the President can actually leave the troops out there - and reap the rhetorical benefits that come from claiming that our Congress is forcing our troops to fight without guns and without food and so on and so forth.

Yeah it's a cynical strategy, but it shouldn't be surprising.
