WOOHOO! "Clark Wants to Avoid Late Campaign Start"
Will he or won't he run? Sounds like he's leaning in the WILL RUN camp.

Clark Wants to Avoid Late Campaign Start
By ANDREW DeMILLO, Associated Press Writer

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Wesley Clark said Tuesday he wants to avoid waiting too late to make a decision on whether to run for president _ a mistake he made in his failed 2004 bid. "I think it was clear that I got in too late last time," the retired general and former NATO commander told The Associated Press in an interview.

Clark announced his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in September 2003, just four months before the first votes were cast. He dropped out of the race the following February, with his only victory in 14 caucuses and primaries coming in Oklahoma.

Clark is considering running again, but he said the late start was one of the mistakes he learned from in his last attempt.

"(There was) an inability to create a staff in a timely fashion," Clark said. "I didn't have a campaign manager until the end of November. I had no money. I had no strategy when I started. It was my only faith-based initiative.... It's one of several mistakes that if I were to run that I would hope I wouldn't repeat."

7. He's the REAL DEAL! I've met him. What you see is what you get.
The man is incredible.:) If you ever get a chance to see/meet him in person, DO IT. Meet him, talk to him and you will know immediately he means what he says. He will look you straight in the eye when he speaks to you and IMO, that is a person who's telling the truth.

11. I fully support him and don't doubt him at all, I have two issues though,
1.) He is brilliant and as such he is fully aware of the unbelievable mess the next President will be faced with, and choosing to sit out the next six years would be perfectly understandable.
2.) He is not liked at all by the party's power brokers, they pretty much hate him and will stop at nothing to torpedo his campaign and force their shill of choice through the convention. He will have to be able to 'go it alone' to have a chance at the nomination.

In short he has no friends in DC and will spend the whole campaign fighting both the re:puke:s and the Democrats, and then he can look forward to spending the following four to eight years after that fighting two fronts on every issue.

12. After Wes dropped out of the '04 Primary, he spent ALL OF HIS TIME campaigning for Kerry.
I think he's liked more than you think. WHO doesn't like him? He's much more connected to the DC insiders than he was before his primary run.

As for Iraq being the mess it is, Clark is just the man we need to clean it up. He KNOWS foreign policy inside out. He's more than willing to use diplomacy to get the ME on the right track and that mind of his will find a way to do that.

6. Gotta be just right
let some other poor sod take "frontrunner" status. For those wishing Clark was in the media 24/7 I urge you to be cautious with what you wish for. Let someone else be the person the corporate media piles on. Those with legitimate shots should wait till things are just right.

8. I am not a Clark supporter
At least like some around here.
But I think you are mistaken. Somehow I don't think Clark has too many skeletons in his closet.

9. I suspect Hillary will be their whipping gal this time around.
If Obama gets in, he should occupy the rest of their time when they aren't beating up on Hillary, but I get your point.

15. That's exactly what Dean's problem was in 2003
Edited on Wed Nov-29-06 12:13 PM by Raiden
I was heartbroken when the media destroyed Dean by playing his scream out of context over and over after Iowa. I do think Clark is ready for the spotlight though. He's been on FOX News since 2004, and if he can hold his own against those windbags EVERY TIME he appears on their shows, he's ready for anything.
