I've seen this really disgusting commercial for a Navy Seal war game
It shows people dancing at what appears to be some sort of festival, obviously in a foreign country. Then we see that there are black-ops, commando types sneaking up on them......cut to a young woman dancing,......but she is in the weapons sights of the Seals, and then she gets blown away.

I've seen this ad several times, and it is revolting. Our kids are being systematically de-sensitized to innocent civilians getting slaughtered by US Armed Forces.

Anyone else seen this particular ad?

I can't believe they are showing it. It is revolting!

1. I think all the war games
are revolting. There has to be an alternative out there. My husband and I have already decided that our five year old son will not be playing any of those while under our roof.

2. What a great thing to teach kids....
NOT.

I have to say, every time I see that picture of yours, I first perceive the cops as a bunch of coke bottles standing in front of that truck!

15. Kids? 65% of game players are over eighteen years old.

3. I was actually shocked
the first time I saw it. Nothing is sacred but making money.

4. Killing unarmed civilians dancing at weddings - how courageous.
Such brave navy seals. Amazing that that is how they want to portray themselves.

5. Is this an official military game?
I know the military sponsored some video games for the Xbox, is this one of them? If this is, the military should be condemned for it. If not, I guess whoever made this game had the right to do it.

12. The Navy Seals game I saw advertised wasn't like that
Looked more like Doom with more weapons. This must be another Seals game. Or ad. Killing civilians acting peacefully would probably mean the Navy would never condone the game.

6. I saw that also, and was very disgusted.
In fact, I've seen it a few times.

My kid has a Nintendo DS, but she is not allowed to play any game that is violent. Moreover, we talk to her about how militarized violence is glorified in this country fairly regularly.

8. Link? Anyway ... weren't the Repukes the ones who were really
adamant about "violent" games being off the market (GTA, etc.)? For "de-sensitizing" the youth ... of course, they love it when the "youth" go on to kill "collaterals" ...

9. I've seen it several times and you seem to have missed parts
"It shows people dancing at what appears to be some sort of festival, obviously in a foreign country."

Yes.

"Then we see that there are black-ops, commando types sneaking up on them"

Actually the cut is to supposed terrorists moving weapons across a little bridge when SEALs pop out of the water.

"......cut to a young woman dancing,......but she is in the weapons sights of the Seals, and then she gets blown away."

This is when they attack the so called terrorists in the background then melt away back into the water while the people dancing and celebrating at the festival are non the wiser.

The SOCOM commercials certainly take a "playful" look at war but the commerical isn't nearly as bad as you made it out to be.

I thought this one was actually worse http://gameads.gamepressure.com/tv_game_commercial.asp?ID=3120

For some reason I cannot find the commercial you reference online at youtube or elsewhere.

14. Aweful nice of the 'terrorists' to miss with both RPG shots
Either one being a hit would've ruined that 'sunday drive' real quick

13. I remember reading an article where an actual sniper did this and said, "the bitch was in the way."
Of course, this was in Iraq.
