Do you get the feeling the media really wants Hillary to be the candidate?
Just listening to the Scarborough show and they discuss it as if it is a given that she is going to be the candidate? Why are they so gung-ho on Hillary? What do they know that we do not know? Do they beleive that if they keep pushing her name over and over and over as the "favorite', then she will indeed be the favorite? With all the effort they are putting into the "Hillary as favorite", what does this do for their credibility and influence if the Democrats choose someone else? Or does this have an opposite effect - in that, it helps to create controversy around Hillary that would not otherwise be there??

1. It's like Bill Clinton said about Lieberman - It's a Win-Win for BushInc.

Either Hillary gets soundly defeated in which case they have another GOP in place to further the agenda, or they have another Clinton in office to cover up for another Bush, at the very least.

2. A repuke strategist
said it the other night on Hardball - and I paraphrase "We really want Hillary to run because we know we can beat her" .... that's the reason imho.

4. I was just thinking the same thing... My question is why do they have
WH shills for the right discussing the business of the Dems??? Right now that idiot Pat Buchanan is giving his analysis on how Ms. Pelosi is "cutting people off" and that she's playing politics "so badly." Monica Crowley, what can I say? I can't get the name of the female making a failed attempt to support the Dems decisions, trying to hold her own. Joe is such a scum. Why are these people not on Fox, or better yet, why is Abrams allowing this?

5. I guess they like this 'divine' right stuff. Frankly I do not want her
Lets run all the Bush and Reagan guys out. The Clinton people also. Frankly the group who are going to save us from this war are the ones that got us in this mess in the first place. We the people could just use some new blood in DC. Some one who thinks new.

6. The media wants constant news and soundbites ...
and that's what her candidacy would give them, in spades. QED.

7. Oh, they're pushing her, alright. Have been since Kerry "lost."
There are many theories why. To list a few (and my responses)...
1) They want a good show to attract viewership, and nobody's neutral about Hillary (I don't think it's that simple)

2) They know they can beat her; Hillary would mobilize the drooling fundie base like nobody else could. (Maybe)

3) Even if she wins, she's a DLC PNACer under the skin and won't upset any corporate applecarts. Furthermore, despite the wingnuts' portrayal of her as a left-wing wacko, she's actually a "safe" candidate--she would run a campaign that doesn't raise any uncomfortable questions about corporate or Republican malfeasance in the minds of the Great Unwashed--nor will she threaten the basic premises of the American class structure. (Yeah. That sounds close.)

8. As soon as she announced candidacy for Senator in NY
the media began pushing the "Is Hillary going to run for President?" "Is this a stepping stone on the road to the White House?" "President Hillary?" and just to make it fun, "First Man Bill Clinton?"

Personally, I'm soooooo tired of it. Chris Matthews has pushed it since day one. I'm waiting until she files papers. Till then, she has the last laugh.

9. I don't have all of the answers, but...
...there seems to be an "elite establishment" comprised of Dems AND Reps--that swaps power
back and forth, while no real change happens.

I'm sorry, but I have absolutely no tolerance for the Clintons consorting with the
Bushes during a time when the Bush family is destroying this country. The Clintons
do NOT speak out against Bush's crimes nor are they vocal about Junior's disdain for
the Constitution and our civil rights. Bill does occasionally rip them, but Hillary
has been unforgivably silent while Junior has raped and pillaged our democracy.

That seems really odd to me.

It feels as if there is a power base--made up of Dems and Reps--who are united. They
want to maintain collective power. They slash at outsiders and those who would truly
change things for the better--thus threatening their power.

The media seems inextricably intertwined in all of this too. They seem to back
candidates who enable media monopolies, while destroying candidates who are pro-media
deregulation (Kerry, for sure).

This is why we need a Dem presidential nominee from the outside... OR someone who doesn't play
this sick game.

Our government is like a festering cancer right now.

11. I would love to see a woman be president.
However even if I do like Hillary I don't want her to be the one. She is everything you said she is. I want a person who will kick ass and bush at the same time. I refuse to let AP lies sway me on John Kerry. Or any one else's lies. I want a person who will stand up to the f k g power structure in the US. We need a patron who will help us to take back our country.
