Breaking on MSNBC - Talks with Maliki postponed until tomorrow
blivet** was supposed to already be behind closed doors with Maliki, but the WH is announcing that the talks have been put off until tomorrow.

No link yet. Perhaps the Iraq leader is a bit put off by the leaking of that memo questioning his ability to lead? ;)

2. From the Yahoo story that's up now
White House counselor Dan Bartlett denied that the move was a snub by al-Maliki or was related to the leak of a White House memo questioning the prime minister's capacity for controlling violence in Iraq.

"Absolutely not," Bartlett said." He said the king and the prime minister had met before Bush arrived from a NATO summit in Latvia. "It negated the purpose for a meeting of the three of them," Bartlett said.

6. Sure sounds like they are moving on with out him doesn't it?
Seems they don't need no stinkin' President to do what they think needs to be done in Iraq anymore. Serves him right!

22. Thanks Lovey
Been a rough go for me since my sister died. It has been harder than my mothers passing as we were only 13 months apart. Irish twins they called us! She is at rest in the Pacific Ocean so I know she is at peace. Nice to see you too Syd.

16. That reads to me as if bush were brushed aside like a cockroach
Not that I can't relate, I'd love to bypass this entire administration if I could. However, I do wonder how the wee little shrub is taking this? I imagine a tantrum complete with foot stomping and fist banging.

hosted by the Jordan's king either. I wonder if his head will be served up on a dish.

21. But they are expected to have "robust talks" in the morning
I can see a lot of "you guys need to just stop this shit, and it will be all over" happening tomorrow morning, along with a lot of " Screw you George Bush".

Yep, that seems robust enough to me.

23. "more of a social meeting"
<i>Bartlett said that Wednesday night's three-way meeting had always been planned as "more of a social meeting"...</I>

ohhhh, so it was suppose to be tea and crumpets?

<i>"This memo reads to me more like a memo to Prime Minister al-Maliki than to President Bush," said Alterman, now with the Center for Strategic and International Studies. "It has his entire to-do list as well as a list of what he'll get if he agrees."</I>

and afterwards al-Maliki will get a "to-do" list? If it's a "memo to al-Maliki" why wasn't it addressed and sent to al-Maliki?

17. Bush's importance is huge only in his own mind.
The rest of the world apparently doesn't need him, apparently. Nice.

Oh well, Bush is responsible for this mess. Perhaps they figured it would be best to cut him out, since he's the one who screwed everything up so royally in the first place.
