21. Ms. Freiberga was educated in Canada before returning to Latvia.
Biography
Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga's parents were World War II refugees. They left Latvia in 1945 and lived in several countries while seeking a permanent home: Germany, Morocco and Canada. Vaira studied at the University of Toronto and McGill University, receiving a Ph.D in psychology in 1965. She then worked as a professor of psychology at Université de Montréal from 1965 to 1998. During this period, she served as the Vice-Chair of the Science Council of Canada and as the president of several social science professional organizations. She was also active in the Latvian community in Canada. A large part of her research focused on Latvian folk literature. In September 2006 she was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Ottawa <1>.

In 1998, Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga returned to Latvia to head the Latvian Institute, an organization devoted to promoting Latvian awareness abroad. A year later, in June 1999, she was elected President of Latvia.

5. If Clinton doesn't run and Obama does(based on this polling)
It's likely Obama could get the nomination. If neither run, it's Gore or Edwards. Both would be good candidates.

15. It may be his if he does not wait too long
and dilly-dally, hem and haw, and pontificate about it until somebody else actually has delegates and momentum. Nobody has a greater opportunity than Gore to unite and excite Democrats if he does not hesitate too long and let the chance slip away forever.

12. His nomination/victory would be a fitting conclusion to the past 8 yrs
A tragedy of Shakespearean proportions FINALLY leads to a happy ending with the hero cheated out of his throne seated upon it at last.

23. The media have been touting Hillary as
the frontrunner for so long that it's no wonder she comes out on top of the polls - for now. Lieberman was crowned frontrunner in 04, and we all know where his Presidential campaign ended up. Ultimately, it's up to Dems to decide who the nominee will be. If Gore runs, I think he'll get the nod. And a Gore/Clark ticket would kick ass.
