Poll question: John Kerry for Minority Dem Party Leader?
Harry Reid is a wonderful person but not strong enough to be in the position. Dems need a strong leader now!I feel that John Kerry would be much more effective.

17. Yep Durbin would be my pick
Reid seems like a very nice man but completely ineffective - by the way whatever happened to the report on how the freak in chief's admin handled the pre-war intelligence that was suppose to be a result of the day Reid shut down the Senate - haven't heard a thing...anybody know if we ever got the report

2. Reid can count.
That's the first requirement of the job.

10. No, the first requirement of the job is to LEAD.
He's not the Senate Minority Counter. He demonstrated an inability to *lead* the caucus yesterday.

16. A leader with no followers isn't the answer.
Just like many here, the Dems march to their own drummer. Kerry didn't seem to be able to lead so why replace Reid with him? The reason Dems fail is they are each more concerned with their own agenda. Look at the criticism Obama received here for stating the obvious, we are a minority and need to change that fact to succeed. How many felt the better solution was to dump him?

5. I do not recall Kerry showimg much in the way
of leadership skills in recent years. Reid is a huge improvment on Daschel and a much better leader than kerry. Kerry is good at keeping a low profile. he should spend more time wind surfing.

6. I actually started emailing Senators about that
right after the election in 2004. Only one answered me. I think it was Conrad.

9. John Kerry would be a good Minority (Majority!) Leader, but...
... a better president. :D

I vote for Durbin. Durbin doesn't have presidential ambitions so he'd have a lot of time to get the Senate Dems into shape.

14. Yeah I think Durbin wants it and would be good at it
Kerry shall be promoted for his hard work... but out of the Senate altogether. :D

15. Other choice
I think Harry Reid should stay, but I did have another choice for Senator Kerry. I would love to see him do a BCCI-style investigation of our election system. He has the skills and experience nobody else has to do this.

18. Reid absolutely HAS to go.
His lack of leadership ability has never been more apparent.

19. TED FUCKING KENNEDY
The ONLY person in the Senate worth anything (besides MAYBE Feingold. Maybe.)

Why isn't Kennedy leader? He takes no shit, gets ANGRY and is, after all, a friggin' Kennedy.

And if Laura Bush can kill that guy and be first lady, then Kennedy can kill that girl and be Minority Leader.

(Sorry for the profanity, but I'm only a millimeter away from being as angry/depressed as I was after the election - this Alito business...)
