Another Spam Email I got about Kerry

OK I got this from a friend. He's Vietnam vet (the kind that won't watch Platoon or Full Metal Jacket) but not at all political. Don't know what to reply or if I should at all. Just to let you know what's floating around out there...

WE ARE STILL LAUGHING OVER HERE IN IRAQ AT YOUR JOKE ABOUT THE TROOPS BEING DUMB. WE DO RECOGNIZE THAT YOU ARE A LOT SMARTER THAN WE ARE BECAUSE YOU WERE ABLE TO GET OUT OF COMBAT IN THREE MONTHS. THIS IS WHY WE ARE SEEKING YOUR ADVICE. PLEASE GIVE US GUIDANCE.

1.) WHERE IS THE LEAST PAINFUL AREA ON THE BODY TO INFLICT A WOUND?
2.) DOES IT HAVE TO BLEED OR WILL A SCRATCH DO?
3.) WHERE DO YOU GET THE FORMS TO FILL OUT RECOMMENDING YOURSELF FOR A PURPLE HEART?
4.) DO YOU NEED A WITNESS? IF SO, HOW MUCH DOES THAT COST?
5.) ARE THREE PURPLE HEARTS STILL GOOD FOR A TRIP HOME?
6.) WHAT IS A REALISTIC PERIOD OF TIME IN WHICH TO ACQUIRE THESE WOUNDS?
LESS THAN THREE MONTHS SOUNDS A LITTLE SUSPICIOUS EVEN TO US.

Y'know, I think that's what I'm most pissed at Kerry about: That he allowed the John Kerry we all knew to be portrayed as the John Kerry in that email.

6. Sorry to inform you, but you actually are stupid.

First, it was four months. Second, you have to be pretty stupid to think that it takes longer than four months to get wounded three times. He was in fucking Vietnam. Do you know what that means? He was being shot at every day. Why should it take more than three DAYS to get shot three times?

Third, he did not recommend himself for those medals. Anyone interested in the truth could easily find that out by conferring with the facts.

Notice the implication that our Navy sailors of low moral intelligence: "How much would a witness cost?" That's a hell of an implication about men who served in Vietnam on Kerry's swiftboat. I should hope that one has solid evidence before making such a claim. But alas, this is the Swiftboat era.

I don't know about that three purple hearts and you're free thing. I don't think it's still on the books. Our leaders are despereate for cannon fodder. They have seriously slackened the enlistment requirements, so it would follow that they have seriously tightened the discharge requirements.

Lastly, I don't believe that this was written by a G.I. These things very rarely are written by those they are attributed to. More likely it's just a despicable liar.

You nailed it. No way any honorable G.I. would talk that way about someone with Kerry's service record. Especially the purple hearts -- how can active-duty personnel make fun of that sort of thing? I don't believe for one second that this was written by a member of the military.

Now of course not ALL military is dumb, but lets look at the facts The part they do not want you to talk about is that the War in Iraq, and the shameful condition this administration has allowed the military to become has FORCED the military to scrape the bottom of the social and economic barrel. The Army and Marines have been forced to lower the standards of "Recruits". The Army is now overlooking criminal records and drug issues. MOST of these are being sent to Iraq…

Right wing that is. This is all rubbish and you need to counter it with some truths. Senator Kerry had volunteered for military service at a time when other's were avoiding the draft. He served his time in combat and was seriously wounded-he still carries shrapnel from one wound. he saved a man's life and suffered through the loss of a very close friend. He earned everyone of his medals - tell you friend to contact Senator Warner, who was a commander at the time and had reviewed Senator Kerry's records before the metals were awarded. Senator Warner has said on the senate floor that Kerry served admirably.
Tell your friend that Kerry has a 75% pro approval rating from the veterans groups because he always supports our soldiers. It would be higher, but he missed a vote for personal reasons. Tell him, McCain's rating is 20%.
Ask him why he mocks a caring veteran like Senator Kerry, yet doesn't do the same with President Bush who's own service record is questionable and has managed to put him and all of our troops in Iraq in the middle of a civil war? Ask him who has committed the bigger offense?

Tell your friend that Teresa and John Kerry love each other very much. And, John Kerry is a rich man in his own right, and has no claim on the Heinz money.

Finally, tell you friend he should be ashamed of himself, attacking and mocking a fellow veteran.
